GVTSP1080 Basket Replacement for Hayward Pool and Spa Skimmer

This product is ONLY the basket - the center portion, which is the part that makes the product so great, is not included. It was difficult to discern this through the description, as we thought "replacement" implied the whole item, not a "replacement" of a PART of the item. That aside, the product as a WHOLE is great and very effective... good luck finding just the center piece though!

I have an older inground pool so I was worried I wouldn’t be able to find the right basket. Exactly what I needed!

This is my third skimpro basket. It is easy to remove and clean. We get a lot of debris from trees and it handles a full basket while maintaining good water flow to the pump.

I ordered this basket to replace a similar one which broke after long service. There are no dimensions given for this item which would have saved ordering and returning. The diameter of 8 inches is too small for my skimmer. Also it has two holes cut in the top of the basket for what reason I don't know. The combination of small diameter and two through holes lets small debris bypass the basket.It needs the SkimPro basket which is 8-3/8" in diameter. Height of either item is about 12-3/4", both satisfactory in my skimmer. The diameter of 8-3/4" just squeezes through the access hole. SkimPro may be a bit more expensive but it's a better buy. The central tower generally fails first in this type of basket because it's natural to grab it for removal.

Not very sturdy.

I received the basket yesterday placed it in my skimmer yesterday. This morning when I checked it it was cracked the basket floated up in the water. I later realized that there should have been a metal rod that acts like a weight to keep the basket from floating. Very disappointed in the skimmer basket. I tossed the basket and realized I wasted $29.00. The basket should come with the weighted rod but it didn't. Lesson learned.

It's a skimmer. .. it works. .. what else is they to say?
