Klezmer and Sephardic Tunes: 33 Traditional Pieces for Accordion With a CD of Performances (Schott World Music) Paperback – July 1, 2012

Playable music for an intermediate accordian player.

These songs are easy to play and learn, and the CD is a nice bonus too. A nice basic way to become familiar with Klezmer and Sephardic tunes. The music on the CD is not played exactly as the music is written in the book, but it would have been nice if the notes to the music matched the playing on the CD. The introduction does indicate this, and the fact all the tunes are played in the same register, but no register is indicated on the page, as well as no finger numbers indicated above the notes, as in a lot of other accordion music. Also lacking is any ornamentation, articulation, and dynamic markings on the pages. The introduction encourages interpretation, but these additions would not be unwelcome in my opinion.

The music in this collection is absolutely amazing. The printing is clean and smooth. The accompanying CD is just fantastic. Merima Kljuco doesn't play the music exactly as written in the scores, but that just gives you more of an idea on how to improve your dynamics once you learn the basic score. There are some easier pieces that someone with a 2 year playing experience can learn. For future releases it might be useful to allow the music to be downloaded since fewer computers these days have CD drives.

The book would have been just fine as is but there was a bonus - a CD of the music. Overall a very nice package.

Very playable, intermediate level tunes, with embellishments indicated on the well done enclosed CD.Pieces are not very long; author suggests repeats. Here is accordion music that is not familiar to American ears, and presents a nice alternative to overly familiar oompah sounds that has relegated the accordion to a niche instrument in the United States.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my daughter, she told me she loves it, as she is learning to play the accordion she is always looking for songs to play, this book has a CD that she can listen to, which helps her know she is playing the songs correctly. I will get her more of these type books.

Great scores of traditional tunes and easily embellished. The included CD is fantastic - I even added it to my iTunes music rotation! If you like playing this type of music, this is a must have.

Very decent transcriptions, interesting variety of music, sensible guidance ("use your own musical intuition") and very musical CD, by a fine musician (I have been to one of her workshops...0

Arrivato nei tempi, accompagnato dal suo CD, contiene parecchi spartiti facili ma belli per avvicinarsi a questo tipo di musica. Le tracce sonore del CD contengono il pezzo completo e sono suonate con lo strumento a cui son dedicate, con pochi e piccoli abbellimenti che permettono ad un principiante di seguir bene la melodia. Accordi segnati sullo spartito in notazione anglosassone ("A", "Bm", "C7" e similari).Consigliato a chi si vuole avvicinare alla musica klezmer.

Seit 5 Jahren spielen wir in einer 3-er Formation Klezmermusik. Der vorliegende Band hat uns begeistert, alle Stücke klingen sehr gut, und es ist der erste Sammelband, in dem auch die Musik der sephardischen, in Spanien lebenden Juden enthalten ist, eine Musik mit spanischen und arabischen Einflüssen. Eine echte Klangbereicherung für unser Repertoire.

Schon die CD ist das Geld wert... Wunderschöne Stücke mit verschiedenen Schwierigkeitsgraden, die ich mir nach und nach erarbeite. Die CD ist ein schöner Anreiz, wieder ein anderes Stück zu entdecken. Und wenn man es vom Hören her schon gut kennt, fällt das Nachspielen gleich leichter.

Ich bin sehr begeistert von diesem Akkordeonbuch und teile es mir mit meiner Tochter, die es tatsächlich fürs Akkordeon benutzt, ich benutze es für die keltische Harfe- gut nachspielbar, gut ausgesucht, durch die CD auch für weniger geübte Notenleser, sehr gutes Preis- Leistungsverhältnis!
