Cheap thin polyester fur that can't be machine-washed---avoid!
Our hip-dysplasia doggy is always looking for somewhere comfortable to lie down, so we have beds and pads in several places around the house. I got this flat orthopedic pad to use as a cushion on a window seat, but removed it after a day because of all the "fuzz" that this thing sheds. The furry cover on this bed is extremely thin. In the picture you can clearly see the underlying backing of the fabric showing through. If your dog is the type who likes to "build a nest" or even just "twirl around" before lying down, this bed will be shredded in no time. It releases fuzz on contact as well. The bed is very firm---like the polyurethane cushioning in a couch---so it won't be popular with dogs who want to sink into something soft like memory foam. The cover does zip off, but why? The tag says "spot clean only" and I can guess the reason: putting this thin cover in the washing machine would likely disintegrate it completely! Ridiculous!

Perfect fit my my small dog crate and the dogs ...
Perfect fit my my small dog crate and the dogs seem to like it too! They will not leave the crate now (How i prefer it to be)UPDATE: Still a great product, BUT I've noticed that the furry material comes out with use. There's blue fuzz all around the cage on the carpet that has to be vacuumed up!

Not quite right, not terrible. No one makes beds for medium-sized pooches. :(
It's a little thin (still better than most), but good gods we can't find a decent medium sized dog bed to save out lives. They are all either for horse-sized dogs or for stuffed-animals that pass for dogs. We have a whippet-lab mix and she's a 50 pounder, whose head reaches my 5'5" knee at her head. She's a tight curler when she sleeps, but she likes to "long dog" out of her beds with only the back end on the cushion, so the bolster types are not really ideal either. Sadly, we've just put this under the one from a nation pet chain that was going flat, after they stopped carrying the old one. If the company reading this is apt to turn up, please make a version about 1/4 thicker than it is! Make one with a removable cover! I'll pay for a dog bed, but I also know they get destroyed over time, so I am not interested in the beds that they want over $100 for, especially when they are too big.

Holds up well without deforming
I keep this bed for my 55-lb pit mix in the living room and she loves it. I've had it for about a year now and while she sleeps on it regularly (when she hasn't managed to con her way onto the couch) it hasn't shown any real sign of wear. Her other pet beds end up with dips in the middle where the cushion has either worn out or the stuffing has moved around--this is a solid block of foam and hasn't deformed a bit. It isn't that thick (maybe 3 inches) but it is better than a lot of beds I have seen. She spends a lot of time chewing things while sitting on this, and though she has licked it a lot and left some gross messes on it, the fuzzies on it are still as thick as they were when I bought it. I have on occasion stood this up and used the broom to brush off debris from her toys, and that seems to clean it up well. Despite my dog being pretty stinky/spitty, I haven't noticed the bed holding a smell. Overall pretty pleased with my purchase.

if it didn't hold onto residue so bad. After a week or two
I would give it 5, if it didn't hold onto residue so bad. After a week or two, I don want to run my hand over the soft fur. It holds onto wetness and peepee. Can't throw it in the washing machine. Tried to wipe it and dry, but it's still feels a little grimey. Maybe better for older and clean dogs- not a puppy with moppy peepee feet. EDIT: It does have a zip to throw it in the wash, but it's hard to get back onto the foam square. And it still feels like sticky peepee.

This is the second crate pet bed purchased and I couldn't be happier with it.
My last American Kennel Club pet bed held up very well while being put through its paces by a busy little mimi-schnauzer. She performed her circle dance before settling into sleep very day and the pad held together just fine. Sure, the furry cover could be a bit denser, but we have had no bare spots to contend with. I ordered a second pad only because the gutters overflowed and my garage flooded. The pad got wet and was going to take many winter days to dry out. I ordered a new pad to avoid risking mold of any kind as the result of slow drying out.

Pretty low quality- she wasn't actively trying to damage it ...
This was a major fail for me and my dogs. I am giving it 3 stars because I know my dog is part of the problem, but I can't imagine she is totally abnormal. She likes to 'dig' her bed when she circles before sitting, and this thing tore within the week. Pretty low quality- she wasn't actively trying to damage it or play with it, she was just doing her 'get cozy' routine.

Disappointed
I purchased this Product based on the good reviews. When arrived I thought the quality was average to good, but held a weird smell to it. I have a puppy and she peed on it out of excitement and I cleaned it right away and the smell would not go away. It was a mixture of a little bit of pee and the original smell I mentioned before. The smell was so potent I couldn't leave it in her kennel in my room. I washed it (even though it's not recommended) to see if I could get the smell to subside but I could not even though I left it out to dry in the AZ sun for a couple days. I wouldn't recommend this product, unless you can bare the smell.
