I like the tank-drive system
Wow is this great for the little guy! Range is not enormous, but hey; I don't want him going very far away anyway. Works like a tank, can even go in circles if you forward one stick and reverse the other stick. That always gets giggles. Used rechargeable batteries, was a great idea. Batteries last about 2 to 4 hours of continuous usage, which translates to about a week or two with normal day-to-day play. The batteries in the remote have not run out yet, 3 months later. Lights do not work, for those curious. Just painted. Haven't been brave enough to use in water yet, but very happy to know that it is waterproof. Maybe one day we'll brave the pond scum... just not looking forward to the cleaning process! Some have used it in the bathtub, ehh... sure but our tub is rather small and seems like things could get a bit wild. Anyway, we use it mainly in the house and it works great. On a new charge, the phib can outrun my 2 year old. Perfectly designed as to rarely get stuck. Easily goes up slides, over random toys, over Daddy's feet... no problem. And there is always the added benefit that I can operate the thing from the couch; lazy maybe but after a day-long of running with the little people, Daddy's ready to make the brain do the work and give the arms and legs a rest.

My son hasn't put it down since he got it 4 hrs ago!
Well I ordered this because we got my son a big RC suspension lift for Christmas. Well it didnt work. So we returned it and the next one was a Target Exclusive. Also did not work. So I went to Amazon. And again we are NOT dissapointed. The price was AWESOME. And we ordered it the Sunday after Christmas and got it Tuesday. He has not stopped playing with it since I put the batteries in it. We filled the bath tub and he had a blast. Amazing that this little RC can go in the water. Pretty cool. Also, the antenna is really nice. It is a spring with plastic tube around it so it is flexible and makes it harder to break. I will buy 2 pks of batteries a week at the dollar store if it keeps him happy. I was thinking if it can go in the water why not the snow. Its ok in the snow but the snow gets bound up in the tires. We found a clear spot where the snow was patted down and it worked well. My son made obstacles in the house for the "Gator" to go over. It is "yeah....AWESOME" as my son would say.Lots of people said the controls were hard but my 5 yr old caught on to it quickly. It is weird but easy to master. I would definatly buy other RC vehicles in this Morphibians Series.

Great toy, so far~~
I got this for my 5 year old grandson for Christmas. We wound up giving it to him this afternoon as a pre-Xmas present. It took me a little while to insert the batteries, that are NOT included. You need three AAA and EIGHT (8) AAA batteries. You really do need a small phillips head screw driver. Most regular size drivers are too large. As I inserted the batteries I noted that the water proofing around the battery compartment is not real good; hence it WILL leak. As a result, I will not be putting this in any bathtub or pool. At best it would work in a small puddle. However, Preston took to it like a duck to water. He really enjoyed it and hasn't broken it after playing with it for about 30 continuous minutes. The batteries still are strong so that is good. One other deficiency is that the flexible antenna on the car may break off soon, I'm think. But it hasn't so far. (Fingers are still crossed.) STILL, because Preston enjoyed it SOO much and could drive it easily. He did use it on our carpet, wood floor, wood deck, and the backyard grass. I gave it FOUR stars. Yes, at age 5 he is already better with it than I at age 71... just sayin~ the truth. Love Amazon.

Ambivalent amphibian
After trying many cheaper remote control vehicles, we were excited to give this one to our 5 yr. old son for Christmas. It sounded like it would be durable and really function outside, which we appreciated. The directions suggested even using it in the bathtub. So on Christmas day, when the weather wasn't great for being outdoors and he really wanted to try it in water, we put it in the tub with about 6 inches of water. Of course my son stood next to the tub to operate it, and while leaning over the tub to get the Morphibian floating upright, he dropped the remote into the water. It hasn't worked properly since. Although the directions clearly warned not to get the remote wet, suggesting that it be used in the bathtub in the hands of a 5 yr. old just seemed too tempting for fate. Either leave the suggestion of the bathtub/pool out or make the remote completely water proof. We have not yet approached the company for a replacement, but hope for a positive response. Otherwise, it seems like it may be one of the better remote-controlled vehicles for the younger set.

Fun, Durable, Great Gift!
I purchased both this Gator Morphibian Radio Control car and the Land Shark for my two kids for Christmas. My son is 4-1/2 and my daughter is 3. They are both able to use the controllers with little difficulty now that they have had more practice. Knowing which knob to push to turn the cars left and right was a little tricky at first but they are getting the hang of it. The best thing is that both kids can use both cars at the same time without any problems with the radio frequencies interfering with each other. These cars are pretty tough and can withstand being driven into walls and each other, driven over ramps made out of stacked up books, and even withstand being flipped upside down. We have yet to try them outside as we have about 10 inches of snow right now! I gave one of these as a birthday gift to a 4 year old friend of my son who loves it as well. His mother asked where I purhased it so she could get another one for her other son. I would recommend these cars if you are looking for something fun for your kids (or husband...mine enjoys playing with them as well). The educational value is not overly high in the traditional sense but these cars do work on visual motor, visual perception and problem solving skills.
