Crank fell off, but light is MUCH brighter than expected.
Crank fell off, but light is MUCH brighter than expected. I hike early morning in the pitch black and need a lightweight, durable, bright light so as not to trip, slip, step on a rattlesnake, etc. This fills the bill! It really is the brightest of well over a dozen solar rechargeable lights (from keychain to really big) I've gotten. One bright solar charge gives you over three 3 hour hiking nights. The path is clear a good 20 feet out with this. Although I bought this one on Prime full price, as a top reviewer I get dozens of these for reviews at discounts and this is the best of all of them using size/charge time to brightness ratio as the benchmark. It is SMALL (enough to hold in your mouth briefly if you need two hands to deal with a mountain lion), and some reviews have been critical because they were expecting a full size light, but honestly I've gotten full sizers that have much lower light than this. It beats the heck out of the single LED lights. It won't charge on just lamps like single LEDs advertise, but the brightness is worth it. As I said the crank only lasted a day and the little swivel fell off, and for the day I used it, 5 minutes fully charged it, but I use it only as solar anyway, here in AZ every day has enough sun to fully charge it. One star deducted for the crank, but I'd buy it again just for the brightness, compactness and solar feature anyway.

Decent quality solar lights with a backup 'power' source
The hand crank is intriguing and works pretty well but it unfortunately looks flimsy and may break before the light does. The light has adequate brightness. One of the lanyards broke within a couple days (albeit with a bit of rough handling). Not bad but expect slightly better build quality and brightness at this price point. Since 6 of these were used in some solar efficiency experiments, we noticed the inconsistent build quality (some held charge better than others etc). Overall, not bad especially if you find yourself with uncharged/undercharged solar lights from time to time (crank it up!).

Nifty little light. Brighter than I expected. Think that it will serve my purpose very well. Crank is rather loose and floppy.

Handy and Reliable
I keep this small flashlight in my purse. I've only used it a couple of times but it worked well when I needed it. The crank feature is handy and the light is powerful enough for everyday short term use. This is a handy item. It was well worth the cost.

Yes, the solar charger works.
These are great! We've only had them a few months and haven't used them much but they definitely charge in the sun or by cranking. I bought them in case of, you know, an end-of-the-world-where-you-can't-get-batteries type scenario. The beam is blueish white and very spread out. There isn't much focus. The LEDs are bright. I've drained it completely and can say that the solar panel does charge the light, as does the crank. I don't have much info as to how long that takes since I just stuck it in my window for a few days. It lasts for a few hours when it's charged and if you need more light, crank it!The plastic is smooth and it looks just like the picture. I actually ended up ordering more because I lost it and liked it enough to get several. As far as mode, it is just on/off. None of that horrible blinking.

This is NOT an emergency flashlight. It stays lit about 100 feet and takes longer to wind/charge than it lasts lit. Thinking the solar charge will stay lit longer? Charge all day in full sun - light for about 100 feet. NO WAY!

I love crank flashlights
For other parents out there that buy lots of batteries, n when u need a couple none r there lol. I tend to leave these kind of flashlights in my purse n if the batteries die, jus crank for a minute n turn on. Always there when I need it. Like always, I test my flashlights, let it die n test the crank. I also tested the solar charger.....I tested the solar panel under my bathroom light to c how sensitive it was n it did slightly charge after 30 mins. Works a lot better in a bright window sill but it still worked. Cranked up fine to. I got no complaints n this is one of the cheaper crank or solar flashlights...bigger but I like that it fits in my hand n white...less likely for me to lose it lol

Well worth the $10 for this litte guy.
What a great little flashlight, exactly what I was expecting, if you are looking for a super bright flashlight this is not it. It's about twice as bright as one of those LED keychain lights, the crank and solar panel both work as expected. I left the light on all night long in another room and it was still on although very dim by the next morning (about 9 hours later). I left it out in the sunshine all day and then tested the same evening and got about 5 hours of reasonably bright light before it went noticeably dimmer. I haven't tried to get a full charge out of the crank light, in my opinion the crank should be just a backup in case the battery dies completely and you need to generate some light right away.
