Great value
This was a great value for the price. Unfortunately my squirrel died a couple weeks after I got it and now I have a full bag and no use for it.

Mouse
My son has a mouse this food lasts her about six months before I have to buy more. It is really nice that we can toss some in there and it will last her a few days!

Excellent but Disintegrates Easily
I've used both Kaytee Forti Diet Pro Health and Oxbow Regal Adult Rat Food to feed my rats. Personally I prefer the Kaytee brand but I imagine both are completely acceptable for adult rats. However, for rats under 1 year of age, I would probably suggest the Kaytee Forti Diet due to the higher protein content. The main differences between the two are that the Kaytee brand has a large block size, includes probiotics, and has a higher protein content. The Regal brand is about the size and shape of your average dry cat food, does not include probiotics, and has a lower protein content. Though I don't particularly enjoy the smell of either, I think the Regal brand smells absolutely horrible. My rats have generally preferred the larger block sizes of the Kaytee brand, and I do too as when I go to clean out the cage I can more easily pick out the larger Kaytee blocks.I've read some concerns about the Kaytee brand having too high a protein content for adult rats, and for some adult rats this may prove true, but any rat under one year of age is still relatively young and can probably use that increased protein content. It's not that difficult to tell if your rat is getting too much protein. If they're not having skin issues, don't worry about it. If they start developing skin issues, lower the dietary protein content and see if it resolves. The one thing I don't like about the Kaytee brand is that the blocks disintegrate rather easily and there's always a whole bunch of crushed pellets and dust at the bottom of the bag. This is true even if I buy it at the local pet shop where it hasn't been thrown around during shipping. The Regal brand does not suffer from this problem.All-in-all, this is a great rat food and I would argue better than the Regal brand if you have a rat under one year of age. Just remember, the Kaytee and Regal blocks should only make up the base of your rat's diet. They should still be additionally offered fresh veggies, fruits, etc. I like to eat yoghurt and then give the rats the container to lick clean before it goes into the recycling bin (that's a huge win-win) and they also enjoy dried cranberries (very cheap at the store) so much you would think they're crack. Broccoli is also a favorite, and if I make a dish that requires broccoli florets, they're always more than happy to deal with the stump.

My Hamster loves it
I bought Kaytee Forti-Diet Pro Health for my pet rat/mouse/hamster and it seems to be doing alright on it. The food is a complete, pelleted diet that includes probiotics and prebiotics for digestion, and it has some variety in texture to keep my pet interested. I haven't noticed any significant changes in my pet's health since switching to this food, but they seem to be eating it consistently and it doesn't have a strong odor. Overall, it seems like a decent option for a basic small pet food.

Good
Good rat food, it gives my rats lots of what they need. It took a few to realize it good and started eating it.

First order came in crumbs
The price on Amazon is much better than getting it from a pet store, although I prefer the smaller size, which isn't available on Amazon.I ordered two bags of food. They came on time, but had simply been tossed into a too-big box, and the food inside was just crumbs. We contacted them and they replaced it; the replacement was packed properly. I haven't actually fed it to my hamster yet, but I see no reason why it should be any different than the same item in a pet store. My hamster (he's a Syrian) likes this food, although obviously he'd rather eat treats. :) I like to supplement it with a seed or two as a treat so that he doesn't get tired of it- it's not particularly interesting for him, since it's all just the same thing.Another reason I've only given it three stars is that the size is annoying- the blocks are pretty big, which is great for us humans, but trying to get it to pile up nicely in a corner of his cage drives my hamster crazy. At full size he's able to fit these in his cheek pouches, but I doubt a smaller hamster would be able to.I'd also love if Amazon would carry the 3lb bag, because the 5lb ones really are too big if you're just feeding one hamster.I've had no luck with the resealable feature on this bag- in my experience, opening the bag, no matter how careful I am, destroys it- but I just clip it closed and it's fine. All in all, I'm happy with this product, but I wish they'd take more care with packing and shipping it.

Ripped bag upon arrival
Arrived quickly, I have purchased this before as well, my only complaint was the bag was broken upon arrival, split at the bottom.

crumbly and powdery
Arrived today. Expected pellets but half of the bag is crumbs and powder. Not impressed and won't buy again!
