I have adjusted rating to 5 stars based on Vacron-USA's most excellent customer service. They kept me informed of the RMA status the entire time and offered free suction cups, an SD card and USB SD card reader. I was informed of the upcoming 360 degree suction cup mount and cannot wait to get it. Also their English user manual is being updated so our feedback has been taken seriously and THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!Edit - 04/25/2013 - finally got the replacement unit and it's working properly. Hopefully no more display issues. Mounted this unit in a Mercedes C300 loaner car and noticed the camera is not aligned horizontally and this cannot be adjusted. We can only adjust the camera vertically so this is definitely a flaw.Edit - 04/15/2013 - Vacron-USA has been demonstrating very excellent customer service since last night. An RMA has been issued promptly. However, I had to pay for shipping the defective unit back plus insurance (at their request) and the cost was $38. For a $300 unit that only worked for 5 days, I really think they should have offered a pre-paid return label.Edit - 04/14/2013 - the 3" TFT display became defective after only 5 days of normal use of the camera. Camera is still recording normally. Contacted Vacron-USA will see how they handle customer service and adjust rating accordingly.****** Original Review ******Received this camera couple days ago and have tested it multiple times day and night. Setup is fairly straightforward except the suction cup mount. All I had to change was the Time Zone and then format the new SD card.Pros:* Good daytime video quality once I went to "Camcorder" menu and changed "Quality" to high (3 bars). The default 2 bars produced pixelated and noisy video.* Built-in GPS enables this camera to obtain date and time automatically. The camera also records trip log into the video files which can later be played back via Vacron's player software and mapped to Google Maps. If you just want to play back the video/audio, as the files are in standard H.264 format they can be played by many players such as Windows Media Player.* The camera is compact and light weight. Construction is solid and high quality.Cons:****** VACRON-USA I sincerely hope you are reading this one! ****** The suction cup mount is terrible. I had a hard time installing the suction cups to the final position without almost tearing them apart. Secondly, once mounted to the windshield it's very difficult to gain access to the small suction cups and remove the camera. When I first mount the camera it wasn't perfectly aligned and I could hardly adjust the position. Many radar detectors' detachable suction cup mount designs are far easier to remove and adjust position.* For cars with a steep angled windshield (sports cars, etc) the camera may not look out straight but rather facing upward a little. This is the issue I have when installing this camera in my Porsche Panamera. The suction cup mount base is already touching the camera body so I couldn't make the camera lens go any lower.* This camera uses a 5V adapter instead of 12V, making hard-wiring this unit difficult. The 5V cigarette lighter adapter comes with a long cord (15 ft?) and the camera end is a mini-USB connector. I wish Vacron can come up with a hard-wire option in the future.* English user manual leaves a lot of room for improvement.Overall this is a good quality car camera. There is definitely room for improvement but I'd still recommend this product.

Though my first review was less than positive I feel it necessary to write a new review. Please let me explain. This dash cam was missing certain menu features when I first received the product. After contacting Vacron USA within about 3 days I got a reply from Stephen H. of Vacron USA. This gentlemen worked trough all my problems with me, forwarded to me a firmware update and followed up continuallly to make sure I was satisfied. He helped me in finding a particular program to un-zip his firmware update. I am not the most computer literate person walking this earth! Everything worked out perfectly, my unit updated without a problem and the new update corrected all previous problem I was experiencing. Not only am I thrilled with my dash cam and it's performance, but I am highly impressed with the level of support I was afforded with Vacron USA and Stephen H. I would highly recommend this product to any one who wants the most superior and best dash cam made. As well I would like to say a very BIG thank you to Stephen H. for all of his help, patience and quick response time to my concerns. I would not hesitate to buy from this fine company in the future. It creates a clean, crisp image quality good enough to read license plates at high frame rates. The speed sensor is very accurate and the application is very useful in navigating the recordings. I am very happy with this purchase and thinking of buying one as a gift for my brother who drives/tranports for a living. It's a no-fuss solution for car driving and recording.What makes this superior to other options on the market? First off, many of the other units on the market use Motion JPEG to record, and this unit has a built in H.264 encoder. Why should you care? Because you can record much more content and detail at higher frame rates using much less space on an SD card with this approach. It costs more to manufacturer, but it's far superior.The unit has a built in GPS, which is optional with other products. This makes identifying the location, obtaining the date/time, etc. completely automatic for you. It is very small and compact so it's easy to mount to your windshield without effort or obstruction to your view.It records to .TS files using industry standard encoding methods, so you can access the recordings and manipulate them directly.Update 10/2/2013Still going well with the unit. I have noticed the suction cup problem others have identified, but if you let the cups cool down for a while, they work fine again. Also I have noticed if the unit is in a hot car on a hot summer day it will overheat and stop working. I usually unplug it for 5 minutes until the AC cools the car down and everything is fine again. Going to purchase another one for another car.
