This bed is dark brown, not black, in case you can't tell from the picture. The flat area where the dog lies is like a dark brown fuzzy pajama material. We have dark brown pills tracked all over the house from it, and not just the first week. Our dog is a not a hardcore nester but still does nest (digs in a little), the fuzzy material is starting to look worn in places but hasn't ripped yet (and it's dark so you can't tell unless you get up close to it. The AKC label sewn into the sheepskin material (not shown in picture) has already started to come off. Not a deal breaker, just be aware that if it comes loose you might want to try to cut it off before it gets ripped off / puts a hole in the fuzzy material in the process.The biggest downside is there's no way to wash the sheepskin material, and it holds smells well :(. The leather has a faded brownish/rusty worn look to it at various places, so it's not smooth shiny-all-over crisp espresso/ black that the picture makes it out to be, kind of loses that polished modern look if that is what you are going for. The picture also makes the bolsters / sides out to appear very firm. They are a good size but are not firmly stuffed like a couch arm, they're more like one of those lazy recliner arms that widen out a little when pressure is placed on them.The large is really true to size, which ended up being too big for our place (my mistake), make sure you have the room to handle a ~48" x ~36" footprint. The inside area is ~38" x ~30". The upside is the dog really does seem to like it, curling up or stretching out, laying his head on the bolsters. He hasn't chewed on it at all. The pad is about 2" thick (fairly sturdy / cushy) and the bottom underneath outer material seems like nylon...no problems with anything coming apart other than the label tag and the unending fuzzies. This is after a month or so.I definitely wouldn't buy this again, but if you're having trouble finding a bed for a larger longer dog who likes to stretch out (or let's say two dogs who like to curl up together) and you don't care about washing it, the price point for this size of a bed seems decent (eighty) compared to other similarly-sized beds out there.

We purchased this bed for our 30lb mixed breed dog who finally came around to not tearing her bed to pieces. There are a couple dog beds around the apartment and we wanted something a little more stylish for the family room. This bed is perfect because it is functional, true-to-size, and looks like a little doggie couch. I looked at other dog couches on Amazon; this couch-looking bed seemed to be the most affordable and least tacky of them all. The bumper "arms" surrounding the bed are made of a worn-looking pleather while the bed part is a soft, easy to clean fabric (not sure what fabric). There is some type of 3 inch foam under the fabric and I think this makes the bed comfortable but not overly plush. Wiping down the leather is easy and we use a vacuum and sticky lint roller for dog hair. Luckily, our dog doesn't make many messes on her bed (she likes to barf on our people couches) so we probably won't have to deal with the difficulty of an intense clean. The fabric does not come off, and there are a view reviews that emphasized this problem may be a deal-breaker for some dog owners.There is one inconsistency with the described product and the product we received in the mail: there is a small dark gold AKC emblem embroidered on the front-most area of the bed. This is not tacky at all and is smaller than 3" radius, just thought we should point this out. We don't mind it at all, so we did not deduct any stars from this product. Brainstorm Pets should probably include a more accurate photo...Overall, very satisfied with this purchase and couldn't ask for anything more. Arrived very quickly and dog enjoys it.

I have 3 dogs. I have 2 Chihuahuas a male and female and 1 Pitbull who is a male. This bed was for the pitbull, and it was love at first sight. As I was unpacking the bed he was super excited, when I placed it in the floor it was like a match made in heaven.... he did become very over protecting of his personal space (which he normally does not do)for the first time I actually seen him push the Chihuahuas off his bed and not be intimidated by them....(going of track) ANy way so I had no problem with the 3 dogs they all seem to love this new bed, the only problem is the marking of the TERRITORY'S!!!!!As a previous customer mentioned its great, but not easy to clean at all. The bed is constructed altogether and there is no way to unzip and wash. I did think of taking it to a laundry mat and washing it (because of the size), but unfortunately the Pitt got fed up with the oder (although I did spot clean it) and tore it up :(SO now I am reordering one, keeping it in the living room only. Getting a easy to clean bed for the dogs room.

I really, really, really wanted my dog to love this bed, but he doesn't. By all accounts and measures, he should, and I bet he would if I bought a large, rather than a medium (he's a golden retriever and so it was a mistake to buy a medium). But I have it now and I don't want to loose money returning it for a large-- so we keep trying to make him like it because it's so damn good looking. It goes well in a modern house and it doesn't take up a huge amount of space. It's got a nice plush pad for the bottom and cushy sides. If I could do it all over again, I'd buy the large. For now, he'll have to kind of like it because we're not shipping this oversized package back.

Neither of my dogs like it - nothing new, they're really picky. What I dislike the most is that the fabric cover does not remove so there is no easy way to clean it. If you are a dog owner you know spot cleaning doesn't really do it. It is made well, and looks really nice in the family room unlike most dog beds. I keep hoping they'll use it but to no avail... I will probably try to sell it at the next garage sale.

This dog bed is sitting in my dining room totally unused. My dog ignores it completely; I don't know why. She doesn't even toss it around. She is a stubborn little dachshund.
