LOVE LOVE LOVE this HawkCam Pro
I LOVE this camera. There are no instructions in the box, but there is a card with a link to the website where you can pick the installation specific to your Ipad, Iphone, android, computer. You need to download the program from the APP store but this is easily located. The instructions provide a youtube video of installation complete with screen shots for your use. I Love this camera and the wide angle viewing. This is my second purchase of this camera. Previously I had a HawkCam which is still in use but the viewing angle was more restricted. This Pro has an angle of 130 degrees which will pick up most of the area I'm interested in viewing. I do not mount the base, but suspend it from a hook at the angle wI want to use, so that I can move it if necessary. I use this camera to monitor my pets when we are away for the day or at work. You will LOVE this camera. The best feature beside the easy of installation and quality is that there is NO service fee for service. It is easy to change the password so that your camera is not hacked. You have to add it to every device that you are wanting to view the transmission, but this is very easy to do. Love, Love, Love. I don't understand the negative reviews because this was easy to use and excellent picture.

Hawkcam is a Dropcam with out the Cloud extortion
I had purchased a Dropcam early in hopes that one day I could use with my NAS Surveillance system, but that wasn't to be. After years of searching, I just ran across the Hawkcam and I decided to give it a try to see if it would give me the size, features and functionality I was looking for. It really met a lot of what I was looking for and even though it's not a certified Synology cam, it supports ONVIF so was recognized and works fine. What could be better? I somehow started following the first instructions I saw to setup the Hawkcam that took down a bad road. I'm network aware, so the instructions didn't make sense to me, but "Mooooo", I followed it anyway and ended up in a pasture until, I found the camera's wifi, joined it and then got the IP address I needed. All went well from there. The only other thing I noticed is that it has a very bright blue light that I'd like to turn off, but cam config doesn't have that option. I'd like to see the firmware/config mature to offer the same as Dropcam's do. Even if it doesn't, this is a winner in my book and I plan to order again. A big shoutout to Ray, that was very responsive and helpful when I pinged him.

Camera itself is good quality. What's frustrating is the setup. For some reason you cannot use any kind of special characters anywhere in the configuration. This includes connecting to your wi-fi and setting up an SMTP server. I shouldn't have to change my email password just because of lazy programmers. I've been trying to setup smtp to get email alarms for hours now with no luck. I also can't get the camera to register any motion alarms at all. There is an app that can see your camera in real time, but there is no ability to simply have it push notifications to your phone.Other customers have raved about the SMS capability. THIS IS A LIE. I can only assume they are shill accounts from the manufacturer. There is absolutely no option to have it send text messages.

I generally don't write reviews, but i had to on this ip camera, this camera is one of the best purchases i have ever made. It started out several months ago researching ip cameras on amazon, reading reviews, checking out user manuals, ratings,etc. i decided to buy this hawkcam pro based on reviews and the customer service i had read about. I set it up, tried to get it working, but ended up calling customer service and talked with a gentleman named Ray, he was so helpful, patient and understanding. I'm a typical computer user who isn't super knowledgeable on software, adjustments, etc. I just want things to work. After talking with Ray and getting it up and running i was amazed at what it can do. It has a fantastic picture, super wide viewing, colors are vivid, night vision is great,only a 1-2 second lag, sms messages are instant, no monthly fees, It does not use an offsite server like most ip cameras do, so i feel that i wont have people getting on to their servers to look in on us, plus if their server goes down, you have lost your ability for your cameras to function, iv'e never lost a connection in the 3 weeks i have owned this and i'm getting 6 days of full time recording om my 32gb sd card. There are many adjustments to color, contrast, security settings, e-mails, etc. that make it fun to play with and learn. I did learn that if you go in and get knowledgeable with all the adjustments, (some of which you don't want to change so read the user manual very close) it makes it much more user friendly, so just play with it a lot. You also can view everything on your computer monitor up to 64 cameras with a live view and recorded views. The picture on my phone is crystal clear and you can check on previous recorded clips or alarm events that happened or just live views. A few things i will mention to assist buyers or potential buyers that i came across to assist you. Sounds dumb but dial 1 first before calling customer support, watch all the videos 1st, print off both user manuals and read all the information, use the user manuals during set up, i found it much easier in printed form, use only 8 characters on passwords using upper or lower case letters. This will save you from calling customer support several times like i did, i should have been more patient watching videos and reading the manuals. I probably wouldn't have even had to call, because the instructions are very detailed. I found the motion detect to be sensitive to light, so you may receive false alarms if it is light and the trees outside move back and forth causing shadows on and off in your home, also i found that the app. that runs in the background all the time on your phone so you can get notifications of an alarm event thus causing a rundown on your battery quicker than normal, so i bought an Anker external battery i can plug in my phone to charge if im on the run. Bottom line: I'm am SUPER impressed!!!! I ordered another one today and will be ordering several more real soon. Ultimately i will have 4-6 of these inside and several of their outdoor cameras that should be available soon all on wi-fi. I would like to thank RAY at customer support who is kind, patient and extremely knowledgeable of the hawkcam pro ip camera. This level of customer support and quality of camera is why i made my purchase and will make many more!!!! UPDATE: 10/7/16 I NOW OWN 11 OF THESE CAMERAS & AFTER A YEAR THEY ARE STILL GOING STRONG WITH NO PROBLEMS OTHER THAN SD CARDS GOING BAD SOMETIMES, WHICH IS THE FAULT OF THE SD CARD, NOT THE CAMERA, I AM SUPER HAPPY WITH MY PURCHASE!!!!!!
