Practically useless in the classroom
If you were thrilled by Theodore Gray's Photographic Deck of the Elements, don't just automatically get this box. The elements deck is wonderful for building the periodic table (in its many manifestations). But this deck is practically useless in the classroom. Because the cards aren't numbered, they can't be used by children independently. It is handy if you are doing some kind of lesson where you need illustrations of the planets, especially if you are out on the playground showing the distance between them to scale. But I ended up sorting my deck into lots of tiny little boxes, one for each planet, so that I could actually find the cards I needed when I was teaching them. What a waste of time. It would have taken them no time at all to number the cards...

Cards really need to be numbered
This is perfect for my son who loves space but is constantly on the go so books aren't always the best option. He can take one out, look at it, talk about it and get back to what he was doing which was exactly the idea. I left off a star because the cards are already completely and hopelessly out of order because they're not numbered! In fact, that was one of the first things my son mentioned after he opened it on Christmas. At least each card is mostly self-contained.

Good food for the knowledge hungry brains !
Received the card deck today. It is not as I was imagining it to be.I anyway love it. Serves the purpose of feeding my hungry brain. Good Quality cards and amazing pictures. Would love to have the card deck for the elements too.It would be best if each card had a card no. on it. Would be easier to pick random cards, read and put them back in the sequence. It's always nice to look at the pictures you wish to order. That way you know what to expect :) Attaching few of them.

charming read. Yes numbers please.
I do agree with the other reviewers though that numbering the cards would be useful, as it is pretty much a book the way it is designed, but in card format (so very useful if your intent is to customise it to student's current level of interest, attention span...etc!).I am drawn to number it myself.

Super nice set of cards.
Wow what a fascinating set of facts and pictures which are beautiful. Wish the box was not so tight and it was easier to get the cards back in order. Took a long time to come. Worth the wait.

Great Set
Very sturdy cards with a ton of information on them. Both front and back of cards are used. Liked that the box/holder is sturdy as well.

Wonderful, educational,affordable. Great for homeschooling.
I gave as a gift and my daughter is homeschooling our grandson and it is one of the best teaching aides she has had in the past 10 years. She continues to thank me for it each time I see her.

Wouldn't call them flash cards...
The cards are very thin. Small print and too much information like pages of a book. Not suitable for young children.

My daughter loves this
My 6 year old loves this. It's has lots of cards but the first thing she did was take the planets, dwarf planets and Moons in our Solar system. Great photos and information on all cards. She loves Space and this should keep her going for a while!
