Pacific Breeze is an expertly compiled collection of choice cuts that range from silky smooth grooves to innovative techno pop bangers and everything in between. Long-revered by crate diggers and adventurous music heads, this music has never been released outside of Japan until now. Including key artists like Taeko Ohnuki and Minako Yoshida, as well as cult favorites Hitomi Tohyama and Hiroshi Sato, the long-awaited release also features newly commissioned cover painting by Tokyo-based artist Hiroshi Nagai, whose iconic images of resort living have graced the covers of many classic City Pop albums of the 1980s.

Wonderful.
This is a delightful compilation of tracks from the Japan of the 1980’s, when Japan represented ( to many western eyes) the Future Now. The tone is one of soft MOR. Vocals coo, bass strings twang and synth washes are de rigour. Guitars occasionally let (tastefully) rip. You may occasionally find yourself tapping a toe along. All credit to the compilers as they’ve done a great job of digging out the gems that make this collection work so well. Altogether now “I’ll be a good sport, be a good sport, I’ll be a sportsman...”

Muy interesante.
Esta compilación abarca desde los precursores de lo que conocemos como City Pop, es un muy buen recorrido, ya quiero escuchar los otros dos volumenes.

Weird complaints from others
As a lot of pointed out, this is one of the coolest random/novelty records you can find on Amazon right now. The collection is nice and sounds amazing on a decent stereo, if you have an audiophile-quality setup, you'll love it even more. Those complaining sound like the worst of the worst music snobs - this album isn't meant to be the Citizen Kane of Japanese City Pop, not sure why they're taking it so seriously and dissuading others from enjoying the musical fun and joy contained within this vinyl record's grooves.

Incredible tracks - noisy pressing
This collection is fantastic. Unfortunately, my pressing is very noisy. Very hard to enjoy with headphones, need to crank it through speakers and go in a different room to mitigate the crackling.

Seller:TheProductsHub has done it again. The item I paid for was for vinyl and I received a CD.
Seller:TheProductsHub has done it again. The item I paid for was for vinyl and I received a CD. Now suddenly the this page no longer has the words vinyl nor CD. To return - "The fee is 17% of the price paid and will be deducted from the amount to be refunded". What an utter scam.

Ideal reference disc, great sound, fine artist mix
This release ticks all the boxes. Since the tracks are over 30 years old the first box ticked is sound quality - it is very good indeed. This is a sampler disc in effect so you can seek any of 16 albums that each track comes off. The choice of artist for this release is really representative; likewise song variety here is ensured. In all, presentation here including of information in the CD liner notes on all its artists and music is excellent. The music on the CD is quite sophisticated in its own way - certainly the folks at Pacific Breeze who are clearly aficionados I think wouldn't hear of it being described as retro!
