If winning a gold medal at the International Wine & Spirit Competition in 2015 isn't a good indication of the calibre of this blend, then allow us to continue. As the name would suggest, this has been matured for 12 years, masterfully marrying delicate single malts and grain whiskies to create a simply unique spirit from a world-famous distillery that has pioneered the art for several generations. On the nose, a soft blend of vanilla, aniseed, lemon and toffee. These make way for sharper wood and banana tones with a hint of cassis. The palate detects a hint of barley to accompany the banana, along with notes of caramel and ground walnut, followed by a lightly spiced finish courtesy of black pepper, with a lingering cereal sweetness.
