Inexpensive, and looks and works like new
The rubber on the original switch had turned to mush (e93 M3). As noted in YouTube comments, don’t even think of removing the inside trunk cover to replace the switch. Carefully pry the old one out from the top edge with a small screw driver, swap the wiring connector and insert. It took less than a minute to replace. BMW should have used better rubber, but at least they did not “over engineer” a trunk switch.
