Conflicted
I have enjoyed the series thus far, and I felt volume #4 was a very good continuation of the story arc. I enjoyed the challenges presented in this volume. I especially liked the Dorp story; not everything turns out well, despite how much I wished it might. That's just life, and I thought the author did a very nice job with it. The very last lines in this volume were a shocker, and absolutely guaranteed that I'll purchase the next installment as soon as it comes out. Well done, sir - well done indeed. I honestly enjoyed this volume as much (or more) than the previous works in the series. I believe the author has grown the story with a lot of love, and I recommend this series. That being said, I also have to express my disappointment with this author. I, along with everyone else on his mailing list, received an email 'asking for a favor'. The email went on to describe how 'somebody' dropped a one-star review, and how the author "checked out the guy's other reviews", commenting unfavorably on 'this guys' other reviews, and ended up asking for a 5-star review. Now I get it that no one likes having their work harshly criticized, and that success as an author on Amazon is a direct result of high reviews that drive sales. But I've read the review in question, and - while I don't agree with everything stated in it, in all honesty there are some aspects of the review that you might benefit from as constructive criticism. You, as a creator, should know there is often as much to be gained from an unflattering review as there is from the most lavish review. Every creator, no matter how famous, successful, or not, must subject themselves to the opinions of their constituency, and 'take their lumps' and learn to accept harsh reviews as part of the process. The most successful creators look not to 'rally the troops' for ONE dunning review; instead, they look at those harsh reviews for something they might take away to make their product even better.Lastly - I enjoy your work. I appreciate how the story arc has grown, especially in this latest volume. However, I honestly feel that your 'call to arms' email was uncalled for and REALLY not cool. You made it clear you were referring to a specific review and person, and when I looked this evening, there were several replies to the review calling the reviewer a 'troll'. One even went so far as to repeat almost exactly what you said in your email, saying they'd 'researched' this person's other reviews, and commenting on how they'd given bad reviews to every other book they'd read, although, in fairness, this person's reply did not include your email's reference to dropping a deuce in a field of virgin snow. I'm not about to draw any conclusions about an individual that left a bad review; that's their opinion. But I DO know that those persons leaving those replies are the REAL trolls when they denigrate and gang up on a single individual because they don't agree with the opinions expressed, and your email was an open invitation to that kind of behavior. Please sir, be a professional; accept the good and the bad with grace and dignity, and don't paint a target on someone. I read your email before I purchased volume 4. I elected to read the work before I read any reviews. I read the existing reviews prior to writing this one. My review is based mostly on my experience with the book itself, but also on the experience apart from the book that included your email and what occurred as a result.I think you're a fine author, and that volume 4 is your best work yet on this series. I eagerly look forward to the next installment. I hope your next announcement email will simply be the release announcement and a call to read it and give it a heartfelt review on it's merits. I only want to write a review that talks about the fun I had reading your work; not this other stuff.

Heartbreaking Cliffhanger
I very much enjoyed the fourth volume of the series. It's not quite as good as the third book, but it's definitely a page-turner, and there wasn't a moment in which I felt I wanted to put it down. If I counted correctly, Ian and his succubus, Alaria, go after Alaria's fourth ex-master, Orlo, a brilliant but evil and greedy gnome inventor. And Varkus, the loan-shark to whom Ian owes a ton of money, sends the first of many vicious, ruthless bounty-hunters after Ian. Add in a fanatical female sex cult whose leader is trying to destroy the world, and you have a great mix that promises a lot of excitement, action, and steamy sexual situations.*** SPOILER ***One of the most horrifying moments of the novel is in chapter 17, when Alaria is bound on a table by her former master and her soul transferred to a robotic metal version of herself. And in this form, Ian can't heal her or resurrect her, so if she's killed, she's gone forever. The rest of the book deals with all these issues, i.e. killing Alaria's ex-master, getting rid of the bounty-hunter, and stopping the sex cult from ending the world, but mainly trying to keep Alaria alive so Ian can get her soul transferred back into her body. The end, I'm afraid, is absolutely heartbreaking and leaves us with a cliffhanger.*** SPOILER ***I can recommend this book to any fans of the series, and after I had completed it, I immediately had to get the next volume to find out what happened. And getting that next book was definitely worth it!

A triumphant return to form.
Once again this brilliant series shines on with an entry that brings the focus back more towards the LitRPG elements and slightly away from the erotica side, though there's plenty of that to be had for sure. Succubus 4 picks right up in the main quest to defeat Alaria's ex-masters and even throws amother huge curveball at the beginning of the story to boot. While I definitely enjoy the sex elements of these books, it's kind of refreshing to ha e an entry that dials it back now and then which this chapter does quite well. We also see a resolution to a major plot arc from the previous 2 entries which is altogether satisfying. We also get to meet an important new character which does a great job of keeping us guessing if she's a protagonist or antagonist. Most of all, the continuing romance between the titular demons and our MC Ian really shines through in this book in many heartwarming ways, which of course makes the cliffhanger ending all the more shocking. In fact that is probably my only criticism of the book overall (personal opinion anyways), but the expected result was definitely achieved. Great read and highly recommended.

Another Exceptional Book
While this book has it Bad Guys again, But it has really really 2 Bad Guy this time and of course a pretty bad Succubus, and everything in between. I have read A. J. Markham book , Succubus: A Christmas Special, but You don't have to read that book in order to understand His first book or the other ones that follow. I have read Succubus 1, Succubus 2, Succubus 3, and just finished Succubus 4. I have enjoyed all 5 of A. J. Markham's books. As soon as I finish this review, I'm starting Book 5.Well I just finished Book 4, and believe Me it's just as good as His four book. So now it's on to Book 5.If You just want to sit back and enjoy a fantasy book I recommend reading one of not all of A. J. Markham books. Well written & very enjoyable. You can almost picture Yourself there with all of the characters.Have fun & a safe trip.Bye

A Gnome? Horayyyy !
I have been playing the OtherWorld refered to in this series for the last ten years so fully appreciate and throughly enjoy this series. Over there the vast majority of characters are my gnomes, my favourite being my female gnome warlock. Now with the release of bok four, to find it featureing an evil gnome, I am overjoyed !!!!!! Please keep the great story coming.

Extreme cliffhanger.
I love the way he's taken a fantasy RPG and mixed it with penthouse forum. The story with lots of humor, sex and the characters are usually in deep shit. I can't put these books down once they come out and now i'm dying to get #5.

Worst cliff hanger ever
Why would you end it there you've just made that entire book pointless. Book 3 all over again... You've already done the dungeon running to get the main girl back. Lame.

The only complaint jve got about this book, is how can you leave us poor readers hanging like that. But seriously a brilliant read. I would recommend these books to any avid reader
