Tales from the Haunted Mansion is not only a fun and quick read, but a must-have for any Disney’s Haunted Mansion fan. The book is comprised of multiple chapters following five total stories. One you begin and end with, and four in the middle that take you to the grave following our Fearsome Foursome.The voice you hear as you enter the Haunted Mansion begins to weave its tale within your mind’s eye. The story line progresses as if you are entering into the Haunted Mansion from the queue line, with various points of interest found along the way.You soon feel that your doom-buggy has stopped off, you’ve entered the library with the marble busts that can’t seem to take their eyes off of you, and you’ve become more than just a witness, but part of the story that is the Haunted Mansion.With no windows and no doors, rooms stretch, and portraits change, our team of spook-lovers must find their way out but there’s always his way… Zombies, monsters, graveyards, and ghosts are only part of the tales that you will read, with Amicus Arcane being your Ghost Host.This is only Volume One, and I’m excited to see what the next volumes will bring, I’m hoping for more stops off into various rooms of the Haunted Mansion with their tales explored and woven into what can become an amazingly spooky tapestry.

First off, the main thing you need to be aware of is that this is aimed at the grade school set. If you still enjoy Goosebumps, you should find this entertaining. The second thing to know is that although the summary states these are tales of the Mansion's 999 ghosts, they are not any ghosts you've seen on the ride. No Bride, no Hatbox Ghost, not even Hitchhiking Ghosts. Maybe they'll get to the more "famous" ghosts in future volumes.The book is about four grade school kids who like to tell spooky stories and call themselves The Fearsome Foursome, sort of like The Midnight Society. One day, they receive invitations to the Caribbean and become Pirates. Kidding, I'm just checking to see if you're actually reading! No, they are invited to a dilapidated old mansion. After venturing inside, they encounter a ghostly librarian who traps them in a room with no windows and no doors. He insists on reading them tales from one of the library's books. Tales that feature each of them!The first 20 pages or so when the kids go into the Mansion are like you're going on the ride. There's plenty of description and dialog lifted directly from the attraction. Unfortunately, they only get as far as the library. I mean, if you need a room to tell stories in, there you go, but I wanted more Mansion in my Haunted Mansion book! If you're a big Mansion fan, you'll find a few Easter Eggs, mostly in the form of characters names that are in tribute to the Imagineers.Amicus Arcane, the spirited librarian telling the tales, acts as a classic horror comic anthology host. Some people will find him annoying as he interjects his own comments while tells the stories. And some of the puns are as groan worthy as the Cryptkeeper.I don't want to get into the stories, I'll save that surprise for you. Fans expecting to uncover the history of their favorite attraction characters will no doubt be disappointed. I think as long as you're okay with a few short Goosebumps-type stories sprinkled with a little Mansion flavor, you'll be fine.

Great ghoulish stories with wonderfully witty interjections by The Ghost Host! Whether you just love spooky stories or love the ride at Disneyworld or Disneyland (like I do) you won't be disappointed. The book is beautifully bound and printed with the paper stock used adding to the overall feeling that you have opened a truly antique enchanted tome (or, should I say "tomb"?). I have a feeling that this book will find its way into our regular October reading... and I can't wait to read the second volume!Note: my son is 9 at the time of this review and he didn't have a hard time with how "scary" it was. I think it was the just right amount of thrill. I know every child is different, but these were frightfully fun stories that were just right for Halloween-time evening reads before bed.

Just a heads up -- these are actually somewhat scary! I am an adult and had to read them during the day.I also don't watch scary movies at all because they give me nightmares to give you an idea. But they were so good!!

I bought this for my daughter because she loves scary stories and the Haunted Mansion ride and movie so this seemed a no brainer gift for her birthday. This book is school-age appropriate so I didn't have to worry about censoring anything for my daughter.The stories are a ton of fun to read, the writing is detailed, interesting and has that perfect spooky quality. The art work goes perfectly with the book.We loved the ride references which were cute and made me smile. The story lines were great and we particularly loved when the librarian talks to the reader directly. The essence of the stories kind of had a Goosebumps nostalgia quality to them which we could get into since we're both huge R. L. Stine fans. We're looking forward to further volumes

I very much enjoyed these quick fun reads. I am an adult with no children but a love for the Haunted Mansion and Disneyland. I’ve bought another set as gifts for my aunt as I believe you can enjoy these at any age. Just fun and enough HM spooky for my liking. With the perks being closed this took me there in spirit.

Love this book and the ride - a great read for all ages.

Amazing must read

As a fan of the Haunted Mansion ride and of the movie featuring Eddie Murphy this book did in no way disappoint. Once I began to read I found it very hard to put down as I was keen to find out what happened next. The book is cleverly written and involves you from the start. A must for fans of the attraction. Looking forward to more volumes.

Si eres fan de Disney, y mucho más concretamente de la Mansión Encantada, necesitas tener esta colección de libros.La colección está compuesta por cuatro volúmenes que son una auténtica pasada, tanto a nivel de historia (que va a conseguir transportarte totalmente) como a nivel de presentación, ya que la cubierta y la forma que tienen las páginas hacen que parezca unos libros muy antiguos sacados de una auténtica "Mansión encantada" y quedan geniales en mi estantería.Los libros están escritos en inglés, pero no son demasiado difíciles de leer (si yo he sido capaz de entenderlos, no creo que nadie tenga mayores problemas).Los recomiendo totalmente, ya sea para ti o para regalar, ya que por el precio que tienen, vas a dejar con la boca abierta a cualquiera. Realmente increíbles.
