Excellent book, wish I had had it before I came to Bolivia, it would have helped me save some of my seeds that don't seem to want to sprout here. Now that I am here and the seeds are all viable from the fruits and veggies I can buy in the markets here, and they are also non-GMO (sad we have to differentiate that aspect nowadays) I can restart my collection again.

I've read a few seed saving books recently, but I have to admit most of them just skimmed over information or theinformation they did contain I could find easier and quicker with a simple google search. However this book was alittle different. It actually went into details and I learned things about seeds I had no idea about.It's amazing to me that so many people have lost the simple skills to save seeds. This practice is what sustained humanity for millions of years. But unfortuneayly in the last 200 years we as humans have taken a turn for the worst. We need to get back to our roots. 4 stars for sure. All in all, this is a very informative book.

This book defines what heirloom seeds are and tells you step by step how to start collecting them yourself for your own garden. A must for the beginner gardener or even the gardener who is less trusting of seeds bought in the store.

I got this book after it was recommended to me by a local farmer... and I love it! Everything you need to know about growing, harvesting, and saving seeds. It's a good read too because it's a bit of a combination textbook and manual so while you're learning applicable information about good growing techniques you're also getting a bit into the botany and science of plants.

Bringing back the simple skills that every human should possess, Heirloom Seeds goes into detail about the types of seeds and their basic planting information. After reading this, my husband and I decided to give it a try. My grandfather, who had frozen a ton of seeds YEARS before, pulled out what he thought was going to be the end of his hobby. Using the information from the book, we were able to start seeing growth in just over a week. The skills offered in this book would be paramount in a survival situation. Learning to self sustain in today's world is a rare treat. I loved this book and will definitely recommend it to others.
