Easy to use
I am a complete novice when it comes to sharpening, and even I was able to use this along with a few other stones to bring my neglected Wusthofs back to life. For any other beginner out there, start on a sacrificial knife until you get some basics down. I messed up the shape of one of my knives by spending too much time on a low grit stone. But that's my fault and not the stone's fault. This stone is super soft and forgiving until you get your angles down.

High quality stone.
Great stone. Quality appears very high. Some reviews complain about adhesive being left behind when removing the sticker. The trick is not to fold the sticker over 180 degrees. This will separate the adhesive from the plastic. Once you get an edge pulled up, keep the sticker at about a 30 degree angle and pulling with the left hand, pull up and to the left. Just the opposite with the right hand. You may still have some adhesive on the stone, but not as much. Soak the stone before trying to remove any left over adhesive. If you try to remove it dry, you will press the adhesive into the pores of the stone making it difficult to remove.

Great Stone.
Better than I expected. Using three stones for most of our kitchen cutlery. 1000, 5000, and 8000. I have put razor edges on some rather cheep knives but the edges on our harder steels (Rockwell 60 range) come out really nice. Tomatoes can be cut as thin ass paper and that is no joke.

Happy with the change
I have always used an Arkansas oil stone. It has only been a recent decision to try a water stone. My research led me to believe the Naniwa Superstone was one of the better water stones so I went with them. Not really knowing how to relate the grit numbers of water stone (1000, 5000, etc) to the oil stone, I start with the 5000 grit stone. This is a very nice finishing stone and I plan to add the 1000 grit stone next. I may add the 10,000 grit stone to complete the set but this would later.

No, just... no.
Stone came attached to some ridiculous, plastic stand.Stone has some kind of debris embedded in it that comes out as bumps while you are attempting to sharpen; defeats the purpose of having a flat stone when it's full of bumps.

Fantastic.
Just as great as the 1k N-SS I bought. This stone has a wonderful creamy feel with loads of feedback. Could not be happier. The only issue is the same issue I have with the super stone 1k, it loads up! Very difficult to keep the stone clear, and it is very thin. I highly recommend the super stone line!

Good stone for razors (in a progression)
I really like the "soft" feel of these stones when sharpening my razors. This is a pro and a con really. I get great feedback from the blade as I'm working it, but due to the soft feeling, I seem to need to lap this stone more often than some of my others. I will likely buy this again, and do recommend it to others for razors.

Not what I expected from a recommended brand.
Can't remove this from the plastic. Has a fracture in it when I opened the box.Not durable. Worthless.

super!
