These are the best bird houses ever!
Easy to install, easy to monitor, easy to clean, and attractive to many native songbirds. I have 8 and just bought two for my sister. Mine have been used by bluebirds, chickadees, tree swallows, and far too many house wrens. Never been invaded by house sparrows even though they are around. I take them down for thorough cleaning every winter and put them back up in spring - they have lasted many years and should go for quite a few more. If you want to put up a birdhouse try one or more of these - you will not be disappointed.

Very Nice Birdhouse
Very impressed with the quality of this bird house. It looks great, blends nicely into the landscape. The paint finish really looks like a birch log. The PVC tubular house removes from the resin roof very easily by slightly squeezing it to release it from two screw heads that hold it in place. This makes for easy removal of debris inside the house. I expect this birdhouse to retain its beauty over time, and should be very weather resistant. The manufacturer has designed this house with the intent of the buyer installing it using rebar that is driven into the ground, and then placing 1/2” electric conduit over the rebar. I opted to purchase a bird house pole from Erva that is also very high quality and mounts easily to the wood bottom the house. Much easier to order a pole set than to run to the hardware store to purchase rebar and conduit. From my experience, this house is not sparrow resistant. I bought it primarily to have a birdhouse that would be less attractive to the sparrows than my conventional wood bluebird house. No. The sparrows took possession of it within 24 hours of placement in the yard. Do not purchase this if you want to avoid sparrows. The sparrows apparently also agree this house is very nice.

Still holding up well.
I had one of these up for years and get Eastern Bluebirds back to it every year. Easy to clean out. Top is easy to attach/detach. Just press in a little bit on the sides to get the top on/off. The top is a thicker resin/plastic and has held up well. There are vent holes where the house meets the top/roof. The roof is an overhang so rain doesn't get in. It doesn't fade out like a wooden house does. For the longest time the round shape kept the House Sparrows out however, they are starting to adapt to it. There is a hole in the back of the roof that can fit a pole however, I attach a circular mount to it and stick it up on a thicker pole. Couldn't be easier.

Attractive, easy to mount
Looks exactly as advertised. Was very easy to mount, although I did have to search more than anticipated for the right sized pole in the hardware store (large national chain). Not everything labeled as 1/2" fit the opening . Fortunately I took the roof piece with me. (I suppose if I understood the reasoning behind how sizes of pipes are labeled it would have helped.) I ended up having to purchase copper rather than the conduit suggested (1/2 inch conduit did not fit). Wasn't all that expensive, but it sways (I needed 7' above ground level) and I had to support it with ties to a fence. Too soon to tell if it will entice birds to nest. Would I purchase again? Yes, love the appearance, will be easy to dismount for cleaning, but before next breeding season I may work on finding a more rigid pole.

Hard to check on
While this is very well made I do have a slight problem with it. When checking the box I find it very difficult to squeeze the tube in order to mount it back between the screws as instructed. I had a lot of trouble and I’m afraid of what will happen when there are eggs or fledglings the nest. Maybe it will loosen up in time. Also, it would not fit on the established pole that the previous box was mounted on. We did some rigging and got it to work by inserting a smaller pipe into the existing pole.

Sparrows DO like this box!!
I put up a Gilbertson style box last year after sparrows broke Bluebird eggs in a wood traditional style box. The Bluebirds loved the new box and raised 2 batches of babies in it! So this year we bought two of these boxes and added them to our property. We have them spaced well apart on about 4 acres. Nest #1 from last year attracted Bluebirds early and they had 3 eggs. About 9 days into incubation, the eggs disappeared and one was found on the ground and had been pecked. I did not see the sparrow. A set of swallows tried to move in and started their nest when suddenly a male English sparrow was on the house and aggressively ran them off. He couldn’t seem to attract a female. Another set of blue birds were in house #3 and they had 5 eggs and successfully hatched all 5. I have checked on them every day. On day 11 after hatching, one of the babies disappeared? On day 14 all 4 babies were murdered in the nest. It was horrible and the culprit was a male English Sparrow who now had control of both boxes. We trapped him that evening and disposed of him. The next morning I noticed a female on the 2nd box. She had already built a nest 3/4 of the way complete. She was also trapped and disposed of along with another female right after her on the same box? For some reason my Sparrows LOVE this box!! Now a pair of Swallows are in the box and seem to not be threatened by any more sparrows. I do have another set of bluebirds in the 3rd box with 4 eggs. No one is in the 1st box so we may have taken care of the sparrow who wanted both boxes. So just be diligent to watch. For some this box may be sparrow resistant but for me it wasn’t resistant or sparrow proof!! Yes I would buy many more if we had the room. I love how easy it is to check on the babies and it looks really pretty in the yard! My birds love it, bluebirds and swallows alike!

Not HSSP proof, but nice.
It is carefully made and quite pretty in the yard compared to most nests. I got this in attempt to force the house sparrows to leave my bluebirds to nest in peace. Chickadees moved in right away, which I've never had before so I was content. The house sparrows watched them go in and decided to take over mere hours later so the chickadees abandoned the house. I was so mad I brought it in before sparrows could build. One thing I've read since buying is that smaller than the bluebirds should have and it is hotter inside than a wood house. I don't have a suitable shaded spot in our St. Louis intense heat and doubt I can do like others and duct tape an open umbrella to the post, so will be making a heat shield for it with super solar window screen. The design I will adapt is on the Sialis bluebird site.
