Great information for overall nutrition and lifestyle change.
Had used this book previously for a nutrition course. Very informative Great recipes. Bought as a gift and will be gifting more copies. Print/spacing could be better

Thought-provoking
I keep this book at hand at all times, referring to it for help in creating meals for my husband and myself. Not easy redesigning an eating plan for a meat and potatoes person. I became interested in this book because of its section on osteoporosis, as I've had an on-going argument with my doctor over my refusal to take the popular pharmaceuticals for this condition. (He has finally given up on me! I'm 78! He probably figures what's the use!)) I've not consumed dairy for years because of allergy issues, so I was glad to read confirmation that cow's milk is not needed for strong bones. I have "severe" osteoporosis, according to the bone scans, and I have a huge strike against me in that even though I walk a lot and climb many many stairs (we live in a three-story house) I weigh 98 pounds, so these weight bearing activities are of less value than if I weighed more.I question his statement that spinach has more protein than steak. According to one source I found, a serving of steak has about 23 grams of protein vs a serving of spinach which has about 8.I am still experimenting with the recipes. Some I like; some I don't. Typical of any recipe book.The information in this book is very thought-provoking and makes perfect sense. We can hope that mainstream medicine will eventually catch up with the reality of our dismal American diet and actually DO something constructive. There is evidence that the light is breaking through. Occasionally you find articles in mainstream publications denouncing our poor diet and offering sane alternatives. Old habits are hard to break; so that is the challenge.

Life improving book
This book has changed and drastically improved our lives. It makes so much sense to follow this diet and avoid all animal products, oils and refined foods. My wife and I have been following this diet (with a very few exceptions - rare moments of weakness) for several months now (since seeing Mike on a Public Broadcast program) and we've never felt better. My blood test results have improved significantly, I've lost weight, I have more energy and I feel wonderful. This diet is NOT restrictive or unappetizing in any way. I am thoroughly enjoying my many, varied meals. I haven't even come close to trying all the new plant food recipes available to me. I don't miss the harmful foods I've given up. In fact, they have become repulsive to me. Everything promised in the book has come true. I wish I would have discovered this diet years earlier. But then I don't know if I would have been open to trying and accepting it. I've told so many about this wonderful diet and its truly amazing benefits. But so many are not at a point in their lives (for many reasons) where they are able, or willing, to give up what they've come to know, trust and crave. I understand that completely. Everyone I tell about this lifestyle has so many questions about this diet. I try to answer those questions to the best of my ability, but I always include "read the book" because there is so much information in Mike's book. I am eternally grateful to Mike Anderson.

A miracle book
I am Biology professor and have heart disease and only 40 years old. I lost 25 pounds in 2 months and look handsome already :-) I strictly follow the book and I am always full (as the book does not restrict your food intake). The key is to take whole grain carbohydrates. I exercise 30 min a day and I will never never eat meat in my life. When I see my meat eating friends, I feel sorry for them. My triglycerides were never low. After RAVE diet my triglycerides went down to 116!!!! My doctor congratulated me and told me 'do whatever you are doing'. Guys, listen and wake up. I am not a doctor but a trained biologist , with a Ph.D. and years of lab experience as a faculty member. Try a 21 day challenge with RAVE diet and feel the difference. Remember, when you will have coronary artery disease, your hamburger chomping friends will not come to save you. Only, you can save yourself. The funny thing is, people spend thousands of dollars to loose weight. And I spent $0 and lost weight. Thank you Mike Anderson. I am planning to show the 'Eating' DVD in my biology class. Mr. Anderson, what is the best way to get in touch with if I have some question?Update (October 27, 2013): My triglycerdies are now 79. LDL is 60. HDL is 43. My doctor stopped my cholesterol and triglyceride lowering drugs! Thank you RAVE diet.

Interesting book
My cardiologist asked me to switch to a whole food plant based diet. Easier said than done. I read several books about WFPB diet. This was one of the better ones RAVE. No Refined foods, no Animal food,No Vegetable oil. No exceptions. Exercise.This book has plenty of information and motavtion. The book has recipes but buySome vegan cook books I have been following this for 3 weeks andFeel good. I have lost weight too. We willsee about long term positive health effects.

RAVE Diet is so GOOD for your health
This book really makes going vegan simple. It simply explains how the common American diet, which includes so much processed foods & meat, is so bad for your health. The best part is that Mike Anderson uses foot notes thru out the book validating his research. I like to think of this book separated in thirds: What the RAVE diet is all about, Foot Notes & Resources, & Recipes. A one to two day read! The receipes are a bit plain, but a great start for learning how to start living healthy! your taste buds will adjust to the subtle flavors w/out salt & sugars. This is like my 10th copy. I give these as gifts to my family & friends who I care about because I know it will help them stay healthy & fit.

The bad things manufacturers do to our food and how we can change for optimum health.
Firstly let me say there was a wealth of information in the first half of the book which was a giant wake up call as to whatIs added to the food we eat. I haven't finished reading yet but will incorporate most of the ideas. A book both frightening andHelpful and should be studied by all!

The Rave diet book
An easy read and the concept is very sensible. The program is not overly regimented. It is easier to follow than other diet books because the guidelines are not overly strict.
