Emeraude Eau de Cologne Spray, Vegan Formula, Perfume, Refreshing Sophisticated Scent, 2.5oz

This is my favorite perfume and you can't find it anywhere. So happy I searched on Amazon! It wasn't outrageously prized, it's exactly the scent I remember.

I have had an issue with the Last 2 bottles. after using it for months, it begins to leak at the top of the bottle where the spray cap is attached and gets all over my hand. There is still 2 inches of the perfume in the bottle . I let it go the first time, I threw that bottle away. But I am not letting it go a second time. I love that perfume and have bought if for years. I am not happy about this. I Love this perfume, but when the spray comes out in the wrong place and gets all over your hand, that is not good.

I thought about Emeraude after a discussion with someone wearing another "old school" scent. The price was right to give this a try, even if it has been reformulated. I am happy to say that this has an almost identical fragrance of the 1970-1980 era Emeraude.Upon the first spray, I was concerned, as the smell wasn't familiar. But with a 20 minute dry-down, a familiar scent emerged: slightly powdery, a little spicy, with bergamot and citrus top-notes, flowery mid-notes and a complex base of vanilla, sandalwood and patchouli. While lovely as a stand-alone fragrance, this also would pair well with a citrus scent.

So this is marketed towards women. However, this is definitely a more masculine type of scent. For any Brits out there it’s very similar to Floris elite for men. It has a more pronounced Bergamot scent, a bit of vetiver, musk with a very very minimal floral background definitely some thing that is unisex. I could see an upper class man wearing it or I can see an older woman wearing this fragrance. But I think it would pair more so with younger men that’s at least 35 to middle-age men, and more mature men. However, with all honesty, I’m unsure that this would really pair well with a woman of the modern day. But a more pronounced, masculine sense, I would definitely consider this glamorous with a slight hint of femininity. I can definitely see why Billie Holiday wore this. I am 32 I wear it and I’ve gotten a lot of compliments off of it.

This arrived today, and after being part of this product's 'generation' of wearers I have a few issues with it. While this is not its original smell, it comes sort of close. I sprayed some into the air and the first aroma I got was an 'alcohol' odor that washed all over whatever scent that spray dispensed. Tried it again, and this time I got full scent, but definately lacking the original's full richer body. I went back and looked at this one' s description and what I realized was there were two 2.5 colognes available. The 2nd more expensive one ($3 more) stated at the end of its description '100% authentic'. So this is jyst an open admission that the one I received was a 'knock off' of the original. I dont think there was a disclaimer in the 1'st description that this was the case. That's kind of bait and switch I guess, but... Also, for those of you who have complained about some of these vintage colognes having an 'old lady'' smell, why would you in almost the same sentence, give the reason for ordering this. that it was what your grandmother or favorite Aunty' or even your mother wore? At 73, I find that a bit disingenuous. Our generation had the best of a lot of different things. And fragrance, exquisite fragrance, was always worn with the knowledge that a little goes a long way. And I'm sure most of us have carried that into the present day. Finally, it's up to the manufacturers and Amazon to know that we all had our signature scents back in the day and used them well into adulthood. When your true to one thing like that, you don't forget it and to try and make us think otherwise, just isn't possible. So be honest about the knock offs, and either sell only original or let us know the 'product' is 'slightly', different than original. Even on a fixed income I would have paid up to $25 to have the true scent.
