Like them... but, not directions, not battery and not really any vanilla scent... Hmmmmm?? Kinda cheap I guess.1. Each candle works individually with remote. You have to aim the remote at each candle and then press the selected color and time rotation.2. There are no directions that came with mine so I just played and figured it out. (I have a remote like this for my bar shelf so that helped me... )3. After opening box, I didn't really smell much of a vanilla scent.. or any scent. Maybe a hint... but after removing the candles from the box, and placing them in teh bathroom I use them as nightlights) there was NO discernible scent.4. REMOTE DID NOT COME WITH BATTERY!! Not sure if it was supposed to but, the compartment and package was empty. No instructions either... just a plane white box with Styrofoam inside it to secure the candles and remote. I had a battery so I put it in and figured it out.. the weird part was that the little plastic protection strip was stuck in the battery compartment like there was supposed to be a battery in there and it was blocking the connection so it wouldn't be activated before the customer received it... ?? Where was MY battery? Hmmmmm.... ????

Everything was wrapped great. Before I purchased i read all reviews and the description and ended up buying a 24 pack of triple A`s that came the same day. Unpacked the candles installed the batteries and turned them on, they lite up nicely BUT when when I tried to change the mode or color nothing worked so I double checked that I had pulled the tab for the battery and i had still nothing. After about a five minute fight to get the battery cover out (this is alittle slide/clamp thing that u need really good finger nails to get out)no battery. So at this time I can not say whether they work correctly or not. Going shopping today hope to find battery for it..5/29/15 - Finally got a battery for the remote and all works great!! Really bright and batteries seem to last a good amount of time. I am using rechargeable batteries in mine so I take them out after about 4hrs and recharge them.

Arrived quickly and nothing was broken. Strangely enough though all candles came with batteries that did not work. They definitely feel cheap, was worried I was going to break the plastic while trying to get the battery compartments open. When lit you can see the shadow of the wire(s) inside them but that's not a huge deal to me. Once lit I was pleased, especially after playing around with the remote (which came with a working battery installed). There are lots of pretty colors to choose from, you can choose the color of each individual candle by spacing them apart and pointing the remote at them, you can even change to multi color which makes the candles morph into all the colors on the remote in a loop, and there is a mode button that allows you to make the candles flicker if desired. I put them around my garden tub and enjoy dimming the lights and turning these on. Didn't give 5 stars because of quality though, paid 17.99 and they feel like they should be 10.00 max.*Edit*I should have given it a little more time before writing my review. After about a month these candles just stopped working. I had used them a few times in the bathroom, I liked turning them on while using my garden tub and they were well out of reach from any water splashing. I went to see if perhaps the batteries had already died and to my dismay, discovered that the battery springs and all the metal connected to them had completely rusted brown and were crumbling. I get that bathrooms aren't the ideal place for some things because of humidity due to steam and such but for the metal in these things to have rotted out that quick, it's just a throwaway product, not worth near 20 dollars for a couple uses. Threw them away months ago. I'd like another set, this time I'll spend more time reading and not just opt for the lowest price.

Lets dispense with the basics first: Description, accessories, photograph, website presentation, and what arrived are the same-size, shape, color, and it matched my expectations. The product(s) arrived on time, as described by Amazon & manufacturer, it was shipped without issue, arrived within prescribed estimates, the packaging was undamaged, and the product itself was unmolested and made with quality materials.It arrived without batteries, it takes a CR2025 watch battery for the remote and 3 AAA batteries for each candle (9 batts in total). The reason I only gave it four stars, I would have given it 4.5 but I can't seem to do it, was the flicker mode, I've seen other eCandles and they've recreated the flicker of open flame flawlessly, these do not, I'd rather keep them on constant, otherwise it does what its advertised to do. There is no instruction manual, pretty simple to figure out....the mode button is to change between flicker and constant, that's all.

It took a while for me to try battery operated candles because I am so old school, but when I saw my cat knock over a real candle one day... well, the mess took me a week to clean up and I knew I needed to make some changes, and fast. I found these and was impressed by all the features. Somehow, however, I managed to order two sets and I figured when they both arrived I'd simply return one. Well, that didn't happen because I was so happy with the first set that I quickly found another place for the second set! Using the timer mechanism means the candles go on and off at the same time each night, and can easily be over-ridden by the remote. (The remote works on all the candles, you don't need to remember which remote is which if you do order multiple sets.) I love having the option of flicker or no flicker, and changing colors. A neighbor saw these thru my front window and asked where I got them, so I sent her the link to this product. There is a hint of vanilla if you leave them on long enough! And, no more chances of spilled wax all over the floor.
