The directions are good for beginners. I can't imagine children 15 and younger could understand the directions without adult assistance. I gave this product three stars as the yarn is cheaply made. It took me a few attempts to start the tops and by then the yarn started to unravel and lose integrity. It is to the point I'm going to buy my own yarn and use the same directions. A hook does come in the package, but it is not the right size for the work required. I ended up using my own hook.

Complicated. Not for beginners at all. You definitely need someone to help you if you're an absolute beginner. Plus, the yarn quality isn't so great, but you get what you pay for.

I actually bought this for myself. I am a knitter and always wanted to learn to crochet. When I was offered to purchase this with a discount coupon, I was really pleased. Here was something that is cute and can create something easily. It is really very sweet. I am very happy with this purchase.

I'm not sure why it's considered a "starter kit" when it assumes you already know how to crochet. I bought this to learn, but it is already well above my level. This will be a waste of money if you don't have any crocheting experience.

My wife actually bought this for a birthday gift, and boy was it a hit! Not only was the little girl thrilled, but her mom seemed to be just as excited as she was. If you're looking for something special and different for a young lady's present, this is it.
