Legit WT, but sad, mediocre product - still better than generic
Feedback/followup on my question about whether or not these were genuine Weathertech liners. thank you all for replying. I was concerned about some of the reports that the material was thin, or didn't stay flat, or didn't fit properly. I've been buying Weathertech liners for almost as long as I've been driving - literally dozens of my vehicles have had WT products installed, usually within days of getting the vehicle. It's always simply been my go-to aftermarket addon. So my concerns got the best of me and I decided to buy directly from WT - the front and rear seat as well as the cargo liner for my Hummer H2. I hadn't had a new vehicle in 6 years, so I haven't ordered from WT in that long. The cargo was more $ than Amazon and passenger liners were slightly less - the total package ended up being about $20 more than bundled via Amazon. But I felt that was reasonable given my concerns about the products listed here.I can now tell you that you may as well order via Amazon and/or WT to get the best price, because the concerns everyone had about these liners are the same ones I have about the liners I received directly from WT. I'm used to a product that fits like a tupperware lid in my car - perfect fit, high edges, quality, durable material, thick enough to lay flat and fit tight. These new liners directly from WT are none of those things. They've cut costs to save money - clearly - and the product is now sadly inferior to those they used to make. So if you're concerned about the reviews here, you won't get any better with factory-direct. Will I be sending them back? In a word, no. It's not worth it to send them back pre-paid. They're still better than a generic fit, flat liner. But the poor fit means there will always be debris and slush dripping onto the carpet. The drivers side liner and cargo liner are especially bad - the drivers side needs to be much higher where feet meet the dead pedal and the gas pedal. The cargo liner doesn't fit tightly against any of the four sides. The edges of the cargo liner are notably lower than they were in previous WT products.Don't expect great fit - expect decent fit. Don't assume a better price on Amazon - compare with the WT website and you may be able to mix and match suppliers to get the best price. To Weathertech: shame on you. I respect your all-American corporate culture. I get that you've had to make choices to remain competitive with overseas copiers and competitors. But I expected better from you. I expected a product that lived up to the experience I've had with your products since you started making them - and I started putting them in cars - in 1989. These are a sad, sad facsimile of what used to be fantastic.
