1640 Wholly Cow Compost and Manure, 40-Quart

I am 78 years old and in a new house, with a large back yard. The soil is old river bottom, sandy and poor.So, I am using a mixture of Gro-Med Coir, perlite and wholly cow peat/manure, for raised bed and planting holes, looks good, so far so good. Will buy again.

This is a great product. The manure concentration is high enough to grow bumper crops of mushrooms. I use a 1:1 ratio with coco coir and sterilize in 5lb bags for 120 minutes at 15psi. I only have to pull out 1-3 small sticks per 5lb bag, so very minimal waste. I've never had any visible mold or bacterial contamination from this compost; it's very clean. A 35llb bag will give me 12-15 5lb bags of substrate. Buying a 5lb premixed and sterilized bag of substrate runs about $28 apiece. 12 5lb bags of this compost and the coco coir works out to be $5 apiece ($2.92 for this compost and $2.08 for the coco coir). My houseplants love it, too- one has recently flowered for the first time in years. This compost is a bit pricey but it's cleaner than the orange store or blue store brands AND it's available year-round, which is why I got it in the first place. Good compost, no smell, few sticks, long supply of minerals and compounds for growth.

Trust me when I tell you, that this is some of the most perfect, Compost/Manure you will ever buy.First, there is NO smell to it at all, it's a dark, light weight, fluffy material, that is just amazing.It has none of the big pieces of "tree or branch material" that many have, and it's actually a pleasure to work with.This is a new product for me, but so far, it is far better than others I have used, and I will be purchasing more very soon.I just opened another one of my bags, and will be planting seeds in it to see how it works with new seeds. I will report when I see the results.I can honestly say, that this is a pleasure to work with, and having no "junk" to pull from it before using it, is just wonderful too.Give it a try, you will like It, I'm sure.
