The Door in the Dragon's Throat (Volume 1)

Glad I finally found the time to read this book :)
Al-Dallam was President of Nepur in the Middle East. Somewhere in the desert was a great hole with a mysterious big door. Several expeditions had explored, but many died. Nothing grew around the edge of the hole and it came to be known as the dragon’s throat.Gozan had accompanied some of the expeditions into the desert. President Al-Dallam had yet another team for Gozan to accompany--Dr. Cooper and crew.President Al-Dallam had called on Archaeologist Dr. Cooper because he had heard reports that Dr. Cooper was different. He was a Christian. Other explorers and archaeologists were afraid to investigate the dragon’s throat. Dr. Cooper was Al-Dallam’s last hope of finding out what was behind the door. But being a Christian wasn’t the only difference. Dr. Cooper travelled with a relatively small team and his teenage children Jay and Lila. When the Coopers encountered a strange old shaman in the desert near the hole, the team and the expedition were shaken in more ways than one.I had heard about the Cooper Kids Adventure series back when I was in high school. I guess I was too busy reading great big novels to try it then. The Door in the Dragon’s Throat is an exciting adventure for middle schoolers (possibly even elementary) and up. It is definitely geared toward Christians. Peretti writes frequently about demons and spiritual warfare and this was no exception. I look forward to reading more Cooper Kid Adventures. This is my honest and unbiased review.

Wonderfully written adventure
I got this book to read to my older childre(8,4). It is too advanced for my 4 year old however reading it to my son is enjoyable as it's interesting for adults as well.

Diasppointing
I have been reading some very good books to my grandson over this last year. (Wingfeather, Green Ember, Chronicles of Narnia, Gregor the Overlander). I was looking for a good Adventure series with a Christian perspective. While this had a Christian perspective, the quality of the writing and character development were sadly lacking. I also didn't want to open up the topic of demonology to an eight year old in quite this way. I was hoping to find an adventure or mystery series that would have some good Christian principles. I was very disappointed in this book.

The All-powerful One
Dr. Cooper and his children travel to Nepur. They meet a fearful servant, Gozan. He brings them to President Al-Dallam who gives orders to explore a cave called Dragon's Throat. Al-Dallam seeks the treasure behind the door hidden there.Dr. Cooper, his children and Gozan overcome many obstacles to find the door and key. They eventually unlock the door. Now they must seal it to save earth from demons inside.Jay, Dr. Cooper's son, barely locks the door before falling and breaking his leg. He escapes the cave with his family but without the key. However, there's no need to fear the door's reopening because God is the all-powerful one.

Supernatural twists and turns
If you're sick of reading about vampires and princesses, check out this exciting work of Christian fiction. Biblical archaeologist, Dr. Cooper, and his children, 14-year-old Jay and 13-year-old Lila, travel to Nepur to excavate the contents of an ancient cavern called the Dragon's Throat. The risk is high—everyone before them has died trying to access the forbidden door inside the cavern. When the Coopers plunge into the Dragon's Throat, they are confronted with supernatural twists and turns in the ongoing battle between good and evil. Perfect for MG and young teens.

My 11 year old son's new favorite series
It's unusual to find an adventure book written for kids with a strong christian theme. I knew that when I found this series by Frank Peretti that I would be happy with my purchase.I have read "This Present Darkness" and series. So I knew what I would be getting into, but I still hoped that Peretti wouldn't water down the message of Christ. He did not disappoint me.We bought the first three, I'm searching a physical store for the 4th, then we plan to get the remaining 4 on our Kindle.

Excellent for nonreaders
My daughters greatest weakness is reading. I found one of these books at the goodwill and bought it and she loved it so much that I had to buy this one on Amazon. She enjoys these books so much that I dont need to plead with her to get her reading done. Mystery and God in the same book is a huge blessing!!

Exciting and Wholesome Read
Exciting Indiana Jones style adventure with a Biblical theme, as the Coopers search out artifacts that validate the authenticity of the Bible.

Great book for older children
I read this book when I was a kid...took about 2 weeks. I remembered the name of the book and got it from Amazon and read it in an evening! Still a good book. I would recommend it mostly to older children. There are some parts in the book that could give smaller kids nightmares. Even as an adult it's a pretty good read
