If you need understanding, this is a must have
As a young aspiring real estate investor, it has been particularly difficult and critical to gain real world access to vital real estate information without having to pay through the teeth. Such instances where insider expertise is provided so that everyone can understand and benefit from the knowledge shared are rare indeed. I found John Wilhoit’s book, “Multifamily Insight”, just that, insightful! The author covers a variety of topics addressing the acquisition, management, and sale of multifamily assets, as well as the reasoning behind it all in clear common since presentation. His combination of useful facts, provided experience, and light humor makes the book easy to read as you progress from section to section. Now understand this is not a “How To” manual. Step by step directions are not provided. You will still have to do some additional research, and invest some sweat equity to accomplish your goals, but the author lends clarity to a sometimes complicated beast allowing critical anticipation of challenges in Multifamily markets.

Very informative and basic information covered
I am a commercial real estate professional working for Sperry Van Ness International specializing in multifamily assets. This book did a very good job of covering all the basics in a very informative and laid back style. It was an excellent brush up on my basic skills. And while I would never recommend any investor, no matter how savvy or experienced, to buy or sell a multifamily asset without the guidance and advice of someone who sales and buys for a living, this book would come in handy in helping the Buyer/Seller of these assets understand the process much better. I recommend this book to brokers and sellers/buyers.

Poorly Organized and Edited, Contains Good Content
This book consists of a collection of blog posts from the author. The content is informative and rather useful, but the organization and editing leaves much to be desired. Each chapter is a few pages long and seems to be taken directly from the blog. Using this format makes the book feel unorganized. To make matters worse, the author's writing is mediocre and contains many grammatical mistakes.

This is the perfect primer for multi-family investments.
As a real estate agent focusing mainly on investment properties, I look for material which I can give to potential clients so they can hit the ground running and to clients who already have a stake in the multifamily market. This book is perfect for each group. It shows the new investor what he/she should pay attention to, and it reminds the experienced investor of all the details that need attention. The chapters are concise; the points are direct and insightful. The book deals with acquisitions, management, market analysis, and financing. It is a thought-provoking book that I highly recommend to anyone considering getting into the multifamily market.

Good context and material
A lot of great ideas and converage. It's basically a collection of blog posts on many facets of owning, financing, and managing multifamily assets. As other readers have said, the book's focus is on more on larger (50+ unit) complexes for higher net worth investors and companies, and not on owning a duplex or foreplex. However, many of the ideas can be applied on the smaller scale as well. This is one of the better books out there on multifamily. Few spelling and grammer mistakes, but I don't think this takes away from the context.

Great Book! I couldn't put it down once I opened the cover
I have been managing apartment communities for 17 years and immediately was blown away by the material. It is full of great information that you can put to work immediately wether you are in acquisition mode or want to simply improve your current portfolios performance.Truly has been the best apartment management book I have read. I took tons of notes and use many of the ideas and subjects with our management team.John truly knows the business and this book is full of great insight into a challenging, but rewarding career in REI.

Advice for Multi-millionaires
If you lack 2M plus, more preferred, in assets outside of your primary residence, this book isn't very useful. This book is about investing a small chunk of your massive portfolio in RE in order to diversify.

Poorly written, no logical flow
The book doesn't have a logical flow of information, and it's littered with grammatical errors. I found it difficult to continue reading as the blatant grammatical errors destroyed its credibility. The author either didn't read the text or doesn't have a proper grasp of English usage.
