Favorite preaching book
I’ve been preaching for over twenty years and this is my favorite preaching book. I’ve read it multiple times. This copy was for a young preacher I’m mentoring.

Picture This; Imagine That: Preaching and Teaching with Imagination
I love this book. I love its call to unveil the picture gallery of the mind. The only difficulty I have with it is that my brain is so lit up with the suggested examples and possibilities of teaching with imagery and imagination that I have a hard time settling down with one section, which is what one must do with such a rich text.Jumping off from Harry Emerson Fosdick's comment: "that nobody ever goes to church to find out what happened to the Hittites," Wiersbe builds his case for the importance of imagination in bridging the truths of the Bible with people today.Chapter by chapter, Wiersbe demonstrates the many overriding motifs and metaphors that thread through the books of the Bible--from the Pentateuch to Revelation--imagery God uses to bring his Word alive in our hearts and minds and give sticking power to transform hearing into learning.Wiersbe provides guides for ways to study and prepare a narrative or biographical sermon or teaching, as well as left-brain right-brain outline guides. He demonstrates the reverent and effective use of humor, and quells pulpit insecurity with an Appendix that addresses common concerns. This is a stimulating resource whether you are a preacher, teacher, writer, or student of the Word.

When the Bible is a boring book to you
I realized the importance of our imagination to read and make the Bible vivid and real... When the Bible is a boring book to you, use your imagination jumping into the pool of imagination. Then you can see yourself swimming in the ocean.

Great text book for transformative teaching!
I greatly appreciated Dr. Wiersbe's wisdom and command of the Bible. This has impacted my preaching, by challenging me to speak in pictures and metaphors that sink in deeper to the heart. This is about understanding the Bible and teaching it in a way the transforms the student.

Excellent Training Tool
As a trainer of Ministry Students, I have found Wiersbe's Preaching & Teaching with Imagination to be an excellent training tool. The book fits well for those with formal undergraduate studies, as well as those who have completed a higher education. Further, I find this book to be valuable in training those with little or no formal training. The book is practical and useful to those desiring to impact those they are teaching, if they maintain an teachable heart when reading.

Great book!
I’ve just started reading it and so far it’s really good. It offers a perspective on preaching and teaching which seems to currently be missing. I’ve already picked up a few points which I plan to apply.

A new approach which is interesting
A very interesting book I enjoyed the first 8 chapters and now I am, working more slowly through the scripture related chapters as these will take more work but are certainly worth the effort.
