Loved it...great read!!!!
A fantastic story written by a very talented author , this provides a great insight into Thailand and Pattaya's bar scene , it's an enjoyable riveting book that's hard to put down once you've started it.I can't recommend this book highly enough ,and if you buy it do yourself a favour and read the author's other book "Thai Kiss" it's another cracking read.

Interesting, like "One Night in Bangkok" the Book
This book offers a pretty unique perspective on life in Asia. It focuses on Thailand and in particular the relationship between Thai girls and Western (mostly British) guys. These relationships are less than perfect. There are many lies, scams, and other shenanigans that make this an enjoyable read. It's not high literature and the writing could use work, but, in spite of that, I just kept on reading. This is an enjoyable set of stories.

OK enough, but something missing/can't pinpoint it though...
Some of what the author writes about Pattaya is spotON and I appreciate that, and some of the story lines are interesting, fun to read. There seems to be something missing for me with the author's books (this is the second one that I have read/am reading - Vortex is the other one). Something missing that Burdett had in his books - all, but his last one that I didn't like, had trouble finishing. I can't pinpoint what the thing that I don't like about Carrell's books is, but there is something that doesn't make me feel compelled to not put the book down while reading it, which I got in all the Burdett detective series - all but the last one. I compare fiction books about Thailand with Burdett, who I consider the GoldStandard against which I measure all others. An author who I would put ahead of Carrell in this genre of books is Lilburne, and I have read and enjoyed his detective series - still behind Burdett...

Excellent
Brilliantly written collection of stories set in Pattaya, Thailand. This author knows the Thai character well and has crafted an authentic series of tales illuminating the lives of Pattaya denizens, the farangs, bar-girls et al. Great insight, deep knowledge and deft story writing. Highly recommended to anyone interested in reading anything Thai related. Probably the best fictional story set in Thailand I have read.

A terrific read...laughed, cried and loved.
What a great collection of stories from beginning to end. Was sorry when it was all over. Anyone that loves Thailand or has even just been there will enjoy this one. A wonderful insight into the Land of Smiles and its people and even those that go there.Heavily based on the tourist city of Pattaya and all it's intrigue. A great mixed bag of characters and emotions.Matt Carrel is a great story teller. Like the heading says, he makes u laugh, cry and love.Buy it and enjoy.

Great book
Thai lottery is a fantastic well researched book. The authors great sense of imagination actually transports you back to pattaya. If you are regular to Thailand particularly pattaya this book is a must. The book in a beautiful way teaches us about the culture and the attitude of the Thai people. Read the book before you go to pattaya and you can navigate yourself in ease.Ravi
