People seem to love or hate this series
There's not much to add that other reviewers have not already written. People seem to love or hate this series. I read "The Last Heroes" and found it very strange. And "The Secret Warriors" is even stranger. One reviewer -- who loved this book -- pointed out that it's full of money, power and sex. Correct. All the characters are products of Annapolis, Harvard or MIT. This is America's 1% goes to war. They have delicious dinners, drink old Scotch and shag each other. If you are old enough to remember TV shows like "Dynasty" and "Falcon Crest," this is what you are getting with these books.I can't really care about these characters. They enjoy every favor and privilege in life...and the author glosses over the action scenes so quickly that you do not get a sense they are risking much for the good of the Allied cause. For every page of overseas battle or espionage, there are 10 pages describing Stateside life in mansions, penthouses and hotel suites. It gets nauseating after a while. The scene that stands out for me involves Colonel Bill Donovan, head of the OSS, in a suite in the St. Regis Hotel in New York in bed in white silk pajamas...planning the clandestine war that will kill countless people. This might be accurate, but I really don't want to read about America's upper crust blathering about the war...and then drinking Scotch and having sex. There is just too much good literature in the world to waste your time reading this airport-bookstore drivel.

An excellent read
I’m never disappointed by a WEB Griffin book and this one is no exception, I love the WWII genre and he captures it perfectly, I’d highly recommend his books to all WWII buffs.

All his books are good & historic
What can I say? I am a WEB Griffin fan. All his books are good & historic. I learn something new in every book of his I read. What a job of research his crew must do. Violence & sex are included but not explicit or gratuitous. As someone who grew up in the WWII era, I really to explore to details of the time period not found in history books. Good reading. RAG

Second Novel in the Series Does Not Disappoint
This is the second instgallment in Griffin's "Men at War" series, which is about the Office of Strategic Services. In this one, Canidy and his confederates are attempting to smuggle uranium ore out of the Congo -- a necessary ingredient for the Manhattan Project. The plot moves at a leisurely pace, but the storyline is quite enjoyable and it kept me engaged. RJB.

W.E.B. Griffin Series (all)
I discovered W.E.B. Griffin in the eighties after a four year stint in the Middle East and eleven years Active Duty in the Army. I would find out when the next release of a Griffin book was due and as soon as I got off work, I would get to the bookstore, buy the book, and I would finish reading it before work the next day. That ment I would get little or no sleep, but it was worth it.I have now obtained Griffins books on Kindle so I don't have to store all the hardcover and paperbacks. You can read any one of Griffins books as a stand alone, but why would you? Each Griffin sries will give you day's and week's of pleasure, (over and over again for me).

Tolle Serie
Eine der vielen packenden Serien von W.E.B. Griffin. Trockener Humor, sympathische Helden, gut recherchierte Geschichte verleiten dazu das Buch oft viel zu spät aus der Hand zu legen.
