Barack Obama: Out of Many, One (Step into Reading)

Early Reader
My granddaughter loves this book. She is in the 2nd grade and wasn't sure that she could read it. At bedtime she took it to her room and later came running back to me to say that she read the book all by herself. After plays her games on her phone. I was happy to hear that. The same with Michelle's, that she read first.

The best book.
Maybe I’m biased because I love Obama and was excited to share with my son. So I’ll try to be objective. It’s a good book, not too difficult for my 7yr old to read, it covers a lot of ground and handles issues like poverty, race and segregation well. There’s a cute mix of real photographs and illustrations of Obama’s childhood and later years. It has an inspiring message of hope, like the man himself. I loved it and sent it to a friend for her son too.

Beautifully written
Very well-written, especially for an easy reader. I actually used it with my 8th grader, as he had an assignment about how events from a famous person's childhood helped to shape their future, and this was perfect fodder for that. (Obviously, it would be appropriate for elementary students as well.)

Good book, it's a great way to teach children about our former president of the United States who looks and could relate to them, especially children of color.

Highly recommended
I love these books. I'm constantly looking for interesting nonfiction texts for my classroom. These are perfect for my third graders and they can not get enough of them. Kids are constantly coming up to me and telling me new facts that they have learned from the books in this series. Great for science, reading, social studies, history, vocabulary, etc. Highly recommended!

Best way to get kids to learn about all topics ...
Best way to get kids to learn about all topics at a young age. My daughter actually didn't have to finish the whole book but she was so interested she had to finish it. Made her ask a lot of questions and she loves Obama!

Helpful for elementary report
This book was very useful for my 1st grader's president report. It was easy for him to read and understand, and had all the information necessary for his report. Seemed to be very appropriate for 1-3 grade reading and information level.
