My Happy Life

I absolutely adored this book! I even bought it for my niece as a present.Dani is a young girl whose mother died when she was very young, it is just her and her father, and then soon, her best friend, Ella.Young readers will recognize the school setting and identify with the situations that Dani encounters there. It is refreshing that while it's not all sunshine and perfection, it is rather positive.The illustrations are a delight! I loved the hearts on the end papers - simple but lovely too.I received an eARC from the publisher via Netgally. This is my honest review.

I give this book a 5 !because Dani did not give up when ! all the sad stuff happen to her i LOVE this book! I am olivia i am 8 years old.

The most wonderful first chapter book I have encountered! Short simple sentences and chapters were so enjoyable to my toddler we read the whole thing in 2 sittings!

4yo had me read this to her a dozen times. Great introduction to chapter books, a story that doesn't have to be 'understood' to be enjoyed. We even started her own form of diary for a while afterwards. This 'happy' is real, not pretend, not exaggerated or dependent upon things.

Sad feelings turn in to happy feelings in this book. This book is very honest and thoughtful and I expect it to become a classic.

"Mommy, are you awake? Can we read My Happy Life again now?" This is what I've been hearing on a near constant basis since I first read this book to my daughter Magda. Unfortunately we only have a digital copy at the moment (thank-you to the publisher and NetGalley!) so I think we'll have to get a print copy soon so Magda can read it over and over again to herself. It really was an instant favourite for her.When I asked her what she liked about it she said, "I liked how the author wrote the words and I liked how the illustrator drew the pictures, and I liked how the words and pictures went together." Well that about sums it up then.My Happy Life: the perfect book, according to my four-year-old.

Slice of life stories about Dani, a sweet and happy child who is a dedicated friend. The stories have a simple depth in a way that reminds me of Henry and Mudge. Good for first graders. Note that Dani's mother has died before the story starts and their is some mention of that and reference to her dad's sadness within the story. All and all, a wonderful series with a lot of heart and delightful moments.

La historia es hermosa y es algo que ningún niño debe de perderse!En particular esta edición es bellísima, de pasta dura, pero no muy pesada y de un tamaño perfecto para las manos de lo sniños. Las ilustraciones y la calidad del papel valen la pena.

Brilliant book, was recommended this book, my son loves it read it in 2 days by himself and asked for continuation of the story!
