This book is excellent. I am a lay person in the faith and I needed some guidance on how to even begin with mental prayer. When I read several reviews in other forums, I decided to buy it. I don't regret it at all. The words and phrasing may be difficult to grasp at first but they essentially force you to re-read and understand. I can't speak for priests or religious but this book has been enlightening to say the least.
