Wonder Woman 5 Heart of the Amazon

Loved it.
This was so well written. This is what I wish more superhero comics would be. It was a volume, a story where everything you needed to know to enjoy and understand what was going on in this story was right there in this volume. I didn't feel like there was all this backstory that I needed to research as I often felt under the hands of this titles previous auther, and the story was just so well paced; good dialogue, good plot. A very enjoyable read.

Amazing!
Heart of the Amazon is an amazing book. Shea Fontana is a great writer and the artwork is really good. I give it 5 stars because it was fun and kept me entertained until the end. I hope Shea Fontana returns to Wonder Woman!

Solid Follow Up After Greg Rucka's Departure from the Series Including Some Skippable One Shots and Annual Issues
Shea Fontana takes over writing duties from Greg Rucka for a five issue story arc that sees Wonder Woman struggling with a question of how best to help the world. Wonder Woman is attacked by a series of assassins after a bounty is placed on her head. With Etta Candy caught in the crossfire, Diana is forced to confront her recent string of missions working for the US government. Even worse, when Diana learns the man who placed the bounty on her head is an industrialist who could use her blood and DNA to create cures for modern diseases she has to wonder if going along with his plans is worth the risk (of course the industrialist is sadly more concerned with creating new super soldiers than humanitarian work). All in all Fontana does a great job with Diana in the series, deepening the friendship between her and Etta (who is still sour over the last volume in which her girlfriend Barbara Minerva became the Cheetah again) while getting to the heart of the character quite well. Sadly, the finale of the arc wraps up a bit too quickly and feels a tad rushed (especially knowing now that Fontana's replacement writer has been having a rocky go of it, it sad to see her leave). The volume also includes an annual that is a collection of quick vignettes (most of which are so-so) as well as a Steve Trevor one shot that is just okay though it does bring the WW2 characters from the recent Wonder Woman film into canon albeit in a modern setting. The artwork is pretty good overall (I actually do like the almost anime like work of Mirka Andolfo who opens the arc), but the standouts remain Jenny Frison's amazing variant covers which are collected at the end of the book (the cover is one of hers).

An excellent comic that explores Wonder Woman's ability to heal humanity.
In the previous comic, Dr. Minerva clues in Etta and Steve on Godwatch who are behind everything including making Minerva Cheetah. There's Dr. Veronica Cale who is behind it all because two gods Phobos and Deimos stole her daughter's face away seven years ago. They want to go to Themyscira and the only way to get there is through Diana. They will give her her daughter's face back if she does this. So her and her business partner Dr. Adrianna Anderson built Cyberwalk, a creation that allows the wearer to get close to someone and pick up memories and thoughts from someone it touches. The suit killed Anderson, but Cale brought her back to life as Doctor Cyber, an all-knowing computer AI system. Then there's the muscle: Poison and Colonel Maru's mercenary team. Steve and Etta go to break Diana out of the mental hospital while Minerva goes to try to talk some sense to Cale. While Minerva is there she agrees to become the Cheetah again. Diana decides its time to stop hiding out and return to Themylscira for real this time and fight the evil that is threatening it and try to save Barbara Ann.In this comic Wonder Woman is forced to get a physical after going through so many missions in a row. She is checked out by Dr. Crawford at the military hospital. Etta asks Diana to go to her brother's wedding that night. As Diana is playing with a child under the table the child finds some explosives that Diana has just a second to cover with her body to prevent as much damage as possible. But still her friend Etta, Commander Candy, is injured and she quickly flies her to the military hospital where Dr. Crawford is working. Dr. Crawford sedates Wonder Woman and takes some of her blood and injects it inside her because she has a disease that will kill her and she believes that Wonder Woman's blood will save her and make her superhuman. Now Wonder Woman must find a way to stop someone with her powers.Word on the street is out about Dr. Crawford's research into Wonder Woman's blood and someone is willing to pay big money for Wonder Woman's body. Etta and Wonder Woman are fighting them off at Etta's place and take care of them by the time Steve Trevor shows up. Geneticist Hamilton Revere is the one behind the bounty hunters and he says he wants to cure many diseases. Diana wants to turn herself into him and work with him to cure these diseases. But is that really what he's up to? Can he be trusted? She'll be going in alone, but not to fear her trusted back up team of Etta and Steve won't be far behind even if they are ordered not to be.At the end of this book, there are several short comics including one about Steve going to help his old buddies in A.R.G.U.S.'s ODDFELLOWS program that investigated odd things, and Wonder Woman coming to King Shark's aid, and a village with a curse and an ancient monster come to attack a city. This was an intriguing comic in that it explored Diana's need to help others with her divine blood and what that could mean for humanity. The short comics look at a variety of topics that Wonder Woman and Steve must deal with as part of their daily lives. Things that make them think. This was a wonderful comic. I give it five out of five stars.

Wonder Woman the Warrior
Wonder Woman Vol. 5: Heart of the Amazon (Rebirth), is a graphic noel that includes a variety of Wonder Woman stories and in varying lengths. Each episode shows the Amazon as an undefeatable warrior/hero out to help others and side with justice each time. Of course the artwork is professional, colorful and attractive, drawing in the reader and making me want to read more. I heartily recommend this for super hero comic book lovers of all ages.

Meh!
Found this to be rather underwhelming to be honest. Artwork wasn't great. No real story progression. Not bad, not great. Just meh.
