Best in the series...lovely, smart and peaceful.
We have had this video since my eldest son (now 6yrs old) was less than a year old. It is such a soothing video, I love the bits of poetry, the images are interesting (there's a nice shot of a train coming puffing around a bend in a rural landscape paired with a poem about a dragon, etc). We have 10 Baby Einstein videos in all, and I have to agree with some of the other reviews who like the pre-Disney ones best, and this is the best of those. My 6yr old son still will watch this one, and picks it himself to watch when our youngest (1 yr) has her 1/2 hour of screen time (so Mommy can get dinner made). Our video (we may be buying the DVD sometime, but I hate having to wait for it to load and go to the menu screen and all that) has perfectly good quality audio/sound and is my favorite video of all time because I can keep the volume on the quiet side. If the baby wakes too early and wants her morning to start already (4,5am!) I can pop this in and it lulls ME right back to sleep, while she gets a bit of something interesting to watch. She sits still to watch it while we cuddle on the couch and sometimes has drifted back off to sleep herself (hooray!). It's just lovely, like being read a bedtime story. This has been the same scenario with all four of my kids. One of my most dependable 'tools' as a parent.

Glad to find those educational and yet fun shows
Well after seeing my grandson watch this show SEVERAL times in a row with total concentration,,, it tells me that there is something in it that helps him learn and be interested in it. Glad to find those educational and yet fun shows,,,, Believing learning from people is the 1st priority this is a good addition to what we teach him.

Baby Shakespeare is great!
So... I don't like sticking my five month old in front of the tv for long periods of time, but I will let him watch a 20 minute baby Einstein movie while I get ready for the day. He's got Baby Mozart, Beethoven, Baby Neptune: Discovering Water and Baby Van Gogh: Discovering Colors. For Christmas we ordered him Baby Shakespeare's World of Poetry. This one is suggested for 1 year and up, but I popped it in to see what his reaction would be. His eyes were glued to the tv and he immediately began laughing and smiling as words like "train," "cat" and others flash on the screen, and a poem is read in the background. It seems to be his favorite of the ones he's seen. The writer in me is already proud! I'm so glad we decided to add this to his baby Einstein library!

Colicky baby LOVES this DVD because of the puppets!
Our baby hit the wall of colic at 3 weeks and continued through 5 months screaming for more than 8 hours a day. At 4 months I found this DVD and Mozart and read the reviews here where people said their infants were mezmerized. I bought both. At the beginning she liked Mozart better. But by 5 months she preferred Shakespeare because of all the silly puppets and their noises. She Loves the Train poem, and the tiger in the grass and Bard when he plays in the colorful leaves. She will kick her arms and legs and squeal when she sees these 3 scenes. She is now 5.5 months and her head turns to the TV when she hears the opening music or Julie's voice. She cries now when she hears the ending music starting....

Baby Einstein - Baby Shakespeare - World of Poetry
We LOVE all the baby Eistein dvds, this particular one is NEW to us, so our review is kind of limited, but ALL the Einstein dvds so far are so educational & super for young developing minds! Our neighbor's preemie twins have been watching them since they arrived home from hospital as preemie's & learn to do sign language by 8mos. & could say their abc's & count to 10 by 12mos & now at 23mos can READ a BOOK!!!! ALL from watching these fabulous Baby Einstein dvds!!! The music was a great lullaby at naptime!
