Don't buy from Technology Galaxy
Pick a different seller than Technology Galaxy. I have waited SIX WEEKS for mine to be delivered and it still has not shipped. I have bought about a dozen of the TrippLite 3kVA and they are great. Just pick a different seller than Technology Galaxy

Excellent for Small Business Server Room
At $150 or thereabouts, this UPS is perfect for a small business server room. I purchased this device to act as a surge protector and UPS for a Dell PowerEdge R210 rack-mount server, PowerConnect 2016 powered gigabit switch, Cisco RV220W gateway router, and an external RAID enclosure data backup device. The SMART500RT1U appliance comes with a small instruction manual that explains how to install and mount the hardware. It is very straightforward and it is worthy to note that the manner in which this device mounts to the rack is such that you do not need a tray to ensure it is secured (the mount point is at the device's center of gravity).Plug in the power cord, attach your devices, and power it up. It is really just that simple to get it functioning as a UPS with voltage regulation and noise protection. If you are like me and have had an electronic device fried by power fluctuations (I live in Florida and lightning storms are a daily occurrence), the $150 is a small price to pay to insure valuable equipment and data. In addition to the standard protection, this particular model also includes software and a USB connection which allows it to send a signal to your server telling it to shut down in regular order when the power goes out. This is important because these types of battery backups only last a couple of hours under medium to high load capacities before they too run out of juice and you have a sudden shut down which can cause damage and data loss. The last point I would make is before you order, make sure that you add up all the wattage and VAC requirements for everything you will attach to this device. This particular model supports 300 watts and 500 VAC. At max load, the devices I've attached to it fall just short so my setup should be fine. However, if you have a more robust server you should be looking at the higher capacity models in the 800 watts / 1000 VAC or above range. As a side note, Tripp Lite makes similar models that are non-rack mount for different setups, and this particular model converts to tower mount when you attach the arms in a different way. Good job, I'm very happy with this guy.

Good enough, but a little disappointed
I’m an APC guy, but I needed a shallow depth rack mount unit for this install and they didn’t make one. I settled for the cyber power. It’s a solid “meh”. It’s priced high in my opinion given the short battery capacity, but it’s only powering a single PoE switch and is good enough for short outages. For the money, a digital display with load indicator and such would be expected. This just has a few green lights that serve little purpose. Even the cyberpower SOHO units that cost half as much have basic digital displays displays and higher capacity. It you need a compact rack unit, this is about all there is so there’s that. If you have full depth, look at the APC models and you won’t be disappointed.

Failed two months out of warranty
This unit was purchased for use in a manufacturing environment to provide backup power for network switches in a filtered and ventilated enclosure. We purchased 5 of these for various locations in the building. One failed at 2 years and was replaced by Tripp Lite under warranty (cooling fan failed). Another unit has now failed and appears to be the same cause (cooling fan). As these units are all over three years old now, I'm going to be looking at replacing them all as I just don't trust them at this age. There aren't many new products in this area, so I would have thought the price of this old technology would have decreased over time. Instead, they are more expensive now than when we bought them 3 years ago. They have worked well for their intended purpose, it just seems silly that they fail so completely when the cooling fan malfunctions. There are no error warnings or indications. The unit just runs and suddenly shuts off. Tripp Lite also does not seem to offer a replacement fan on their website. A $10 part now renders a $500 piece of equipment useless. I'll see if I can retrofit another fan in and salvage this out of warranty device. My biggest complaint is that there is no way to allow power to flow to the connected equipment and bypass the power conditioning/battery backup. So, when they fail, you have to completely remove them from service and connect your devices to another power source to get back online. Not so bad in a server room server rack, but a lot harder when you are 20 feet in the air on a scissor lift doing this on a manufacturing shop floor.Overall, I may buy one of these units again, but am definitely shopping around before I do.

Like Their Stuff
Works well and easy to setup. Would be nice is the rear rail mounts were included however like their equipment over others. What others say is in line with this product. Will probably be using more of these in the future.
