This book makes sense and they have wonderful recipes.
I have lost the weight I have wanted to lose, but need more variety of healthy foods in my diet to maintain the weight loss. I believe in losing weight on your own, to be at a normal weight for life, that is the only way to take it off and keep it off. Be responsible for yourself and do it yourself. The only program that makes any sense is weight watchers which I used probably 35 years ago. I never became a lifetime member but the program is a good one if you are struggling to lose weight on your own and can't stick to staying away from the unhealthy fattening foods. It helps you to eat normally . The south beach diet plan is not a diet. There are 3 phases which I am not going to do, but I am using recipes from all 3 phases. It is a heart doctor who started the south beach diet after I guess years of research. One of the worst things for us is sodium. These recipes watch how much sodium is in each dish. I do not cook with salt and the recipes I have tried so far do not call for salt. I am throughly satisfied with this purchase and would recommend it to anyone. The recipes call for normal items and are simple to make and do not take much time. Even children would like them. My husband is extremely picky and he even thinks they are great.

It works!
I read this when it first came out and since then have seen many, many, many additional editions come out. I'd have to say that this is book is a good staple to have whether you're trying the diet for the first time or getting back on it. The recipes are pretty solid and once you know the "rules" are fun to make adjustments to your liking. The first time I tried this diet, I lost 10 pounds in less than 2 months but unfortunately got carried away and just kept getting carried away with the holiday eating season :) Getting back on it again and making it a goal to view this is as a lifestyle change rather than a "diet".

I was disappointed in that book
I used to own this original book, but when I discovered I was Celiac, I purchase the author's Gluten Free South Beach book. I was disappointed in that book, as it is geared more so for people trying to discover if they are gluten intolerant or Celiac. I like the simple, easy to prepare recipes in this original book, so I am very happy to have it back. Most of the recipes are gluten free anyway, and when I am trying to diet, I just like to keep it as simple as possible. Good recipes, easy to prepare and cook, and in a straight forward format.

This is the only meal/diet plan that has ever worked for me.
Did this diet several years back and lost 20 pounds in 3 months. It's a wonderfully healthy way to eat as well as to get a quick payoff after two weeks. I lost 10 pounds in 2 weeks last time, and it was easy to do and to be faithful too. Recipes are excellent. But if you don't like to cook like me, there are plenty of ideas to make meal prep simple and easy- and portable if taking meals to work. Found this the easiest weight loss plan I've ever been on. It is restrictive those first few weeks, but many delicious choices, and I never feel hungry. The 20 pounds are back after 5 years and I'm on day one of this diet again.

Great product, great seller
I received my order within just a few days. The book was in near-new condition with no markings or creases. I use this book as more of a reference guide than as a strict diet regimen. I highly recommend this product. Simply following the "foods to enjoy" section in phase 1 I was able to lose 13 lbs within 2 weeks. After the initial weight loss I have been able to keep most of it off without having to follow the strictness of phase 1. Love this book, and the seller did a great job in promptness of deliver and accuracy of product description.

Best recipes ever!
All of South Beach Diet recipes are awesome! If you have the time to get organized, shop and cook. This is the one for you. It's well worth the time and effort. This is the ONLY diet I've ever been on that I actually lost weight and loved all of the food. The food is better then any restaurant out there and it's easy to make. You never feel deprived while on the diet on the contrary you feel amazed at the delicious five star foods you can eat and still lose weight. This one is a winner. All the ingredients are common and easy to find too. Like Dr. Agatston says it's not a diet it's a lifestyle and GREAT one at that.

Very good, it works
I lost 40 lbs with this about 8 years ago and kept it off for 2 years. For me it's very hard to reintroduce a little bit of the carbs so once I've done that my weight started going up slowly again. I found a much better book which in my opinion goes hand in hand with SBD, it's called "Thin and Thinner". For me it was the SBD principles taken a step further, with clear "never touch" certain foods for the rest of my life and with good alternatives for things love and can't have, such as chocolate.The SBD and all the SBD recipe books are great books for laying down the basics of low carbs diets.

Try South Beach Diet and be healthy, while not hungry.
With this meal plan and great, super-nutritious recipes, you will not be hungry. The only problem with this diet is the expense. Carbs, it turns out, are fairly cheap (pasta, potatoes, bread), while vegetables, meat and cheese can be expensive. Every time you turn around, you will be off to the vegetable stand, but it is well worth it. On this diet, you will be well fed and your family, friends, doctor and insurance company will be impressed.
