Madness Hot Warming Embrocation 4 oz jar

So I've used Rapha's summer and winter embrocation, and love them. But they're pricey. I love the warmth from their winter embro, so I thought I'd go wild and try the Mad Alchemy Madness embrocation.Like they say at Mad Alchemy, this stuff is NOT for embrocation newbies. If you've never used an embro cream before, for the love of all that is holy, get the Medium first.As other reviewers have said, good Lord! This stuff is amazing (hurts so good). It does seem to take a while for me to notice the warming effects, (about half an hour into my cold morning ride, and this is putting the stuff on about half an hour before I get on the bike). I put it on my neck and shoulders, lower back, and knees.Wash your hands after applying. You do NOT want to get this stuff in an eye, sensitive areas, or on your pets. You might even keep a box of nitrile gloves near it, so you can just glove up, slather it on (although a light touch is usually all you need of this stuff), then throw away the gloves inside-out in a trash can where pets or kids can't get to it. Seriously.I love it because it's so warm, and it reminds me to keep my shoulders down and relaxed while riding. Happy riding to you!

I did not find this embrocation to be very hot. It is very thick and heavy, like Vaseline. This makes it great to repel water, and to keep heat in if you find it hard enough to your liking.

Tried the medium, wasn't quite there. It works, but I really wanted some heat for those sub 50 degree days. Tried this one and yupp, it does what I wanted. I can rock shorts without leg warmers into the 40s. Haven't gone colder yet, my fingers and toes are the issue then.Of note, put it on with gloves AFTER you already have your shorts on. It's tough to get off your hands and riding with it would be a disaster. Also, if you get back from riding and go into the shower, the stuff heats up beyond a "hey this is fun" level. Washing with regular bar soap doesn't get it off easily, either wipe down with baby wipes prior to the shower, or bring up dish soap and use that.Awesome stuff!

Good stuff. I had the medium and this stuff is hot. I rub in a thin coat under my full length bibs when its under 30 and Im good to go.

Excellent heat, I have two knee replacements and this stuff really helps on cold days to keep circulation going and the knees warm

this is crazy hot, but it hurts good, dont get anywhere else or you will have to call 911

For whatever reason, when I applied this to my knees, felt a little warmth. Never did get hot. Not sure why this was the case. So I am somewhat disappointed.
