I know it's shiny stainless steel and all. But I have been using this product for about six months and find it annoying on a couple of counts. It doesn't hold that much cheese. Only the largest holes are really of practical use in dispensing cheese. The others just don't let much through. But here is my biggest gripe.Even the largest holes don't let enough cheese through, really, and for reasons that I don't understand, it's hard to aim, to make the cheese fall where you want it to so it ends up all over the counter. Specifically, all the cheese wants to fall toward the center of the dish, making it hard to get cheese on the outer edges of the dish without shaking cheese all over the place.People who rate this item highly probably don't put much cheese on their food.I think those dispensers that grated cheese comes in from the store are ugly and would like something that looks better. But they work really well, better than this one. The holes are quite large enough and the cheese seems to land on the food, not on the counter, even when you get close to the edge of the plate.

We make a variety of rubs for our meats. The shaker makes it easier to get an even distribution on the meat. The adjustable holes work great for the larger herbs and sugars. The lid was hard to screw on but after working with it for a bit, it works fine.

This is the best of the three brands of adjustable shakers.I have all three and will keep all three.The other two being Norpro and Grill Friendly.The top of this shaker is very smooth turning.The top of the Norpro is very rough turning and gets stuck.The Grill Friendly brand turns okay but the surface to surface distance of the stationary and moving lid is not as close to the distance of this item.If the Norpro had the same lid as this item then the Norpro would be far and away the better of the three.The Norpro glass etc is heavy and nice looking/feeling. It's too bad that their adjustable lid is so hard to turn.If I was only to purchase just one adjustable shaker, this would be it.I smeared some Crisco shortening under the lid of the Norpro and it did improve the turning.

Can hardly open ! Very difficult... my hands hurt.Don’t like it at all.

Wanted to use this for kosher salt. But the largest holes are too small and too far between to be of any use, unless you are trying not to use salt but want to fool yourself into thinking you are.But it is very attractive so I'll have to figure out some other use for it. A vase for itty bitty flowers?

I bought this to use as a shaker for fine Nutritional Yeast Powder. The powder seeps out through the sliding lid even when it’s turned to the “closed” position, so it’s a bit messy all around the rim. I imagine it would be fine for larger grained substances like salt and pepper.

Really cool. Really beautiful. Made really well with more design than you might expect. Love the three hole sizes for different food/spices. I use the largest setting for parmesean cheese that decided to start adding to many dishes and of course salads. Really wonderful and the stainless steel fits my newly designed kitchen perfectly!
