Keen Men's Brixen like having a brand new Mercedes for your feet
An Excellent Shoe, Bottom line: Size was a concern after I read many who said to order 1/2 size larger. I wanted to wear socks with this and have the 10.5 mens Keen sandals I love so, since those fit perfectly I ordered the size 11 shoe... Wrong choice, Too big, but with Amazon's forgive and exchange I was able to pop the size 11's in the box and send back with the handy printout label provided by Amazon. Within a few days, over the weekend, I had the exchanged size 10.5 which is really perfect. Okay, now to trying out the shoes, First off, the only complaint, and it is small, is the sides do hit my ankle bone too like someone else also said. The solution for that for me was to wear heavy socks, and over time the shoes will get used to the fact that I have an ankle bone right where the top sides of the shoes are. The shoes are flexible and are already giving in to that problem and I anticipate there will be no further issue over the next few days of time wearing them. The Best Part, and the reason I wanted these shoes is that they are liberally wide and strong on the bottom with tread like a Mac Truck. This gives me a good solid footing on winter ground conditions, rain, wet, muddy, - Let me tell you, I walk my dogs come rain or even worse weather and I'm out in it every day and often. These shoes are like having a brand new Mercedes for your feet. Keen Men's Brixen Lo Waterproof Insulated Shoe keeps my feet dry, comfortable and set apart from the elements. There is no bad weather, only bad shoes, and these are good shoes, the best. I'm happy as I have tried everything and the one's I like and still have a pair I alternate with the Keen's now is the Merrill slip on Waterproof Moc. I have two pair because I let each pair air dry in the house while I'm using the other pair. I've talked enough about these now, Get 'em, even if you have to go back and forth to get the right size. As I see it now, just get the size you are and that will probably be perfect, as it is for me.

Great slip on, hiker
I have gone through over a dozen pairs of these. They usually last a hundred miles or so. I tend to be hard on shoes, hiking in the mountains and walking on the pavement. I love the fit, and the rubber in front keep your toes safe. The tread is great for hiking. They are a bit tight when new, but the elastic softens.

Sizing is odd
The 3rd pair I ordered was the fit I needed.I was 10.5. The 10.5 I ordered had my feet swimming in them. Ordered a 10. Still, the 10 was too big. Ordered a 9.5 and they came in spot on. Perfect fit. And, with that I can say they're great. I've 3 other pair of Keens from shoe to hiker to work boot and all are 10.5. Go figure. Nevertheless these Brixen are break in free for me. Easy on and off. Pretty good support. I hiked all over Ireland in them and kept dry in drizzles to rain blowing sideways. Lugs on bottom are easy to clean and provided good grip except on slime covered river rock(totally came out from under me, should've known better). I'd buy em again when these wear out welcome12/25/24- These have still been great for easy use( around house, walking, out n about). The initial trip with lot of walking/hiking proved themselves good. I am a tradesman but I'd never wear these on the job. They're just Not a Work boot, never will be, although they're right at home in a tractor. I don't care if they've the caution triangle on them or not- Def not steel or composite toe. I do use them a lot. Boots or dress shoes come off and these go on. Maybe I got lucky on the quality, maybe not but, I've no splits, seam breaks nor sole parts flapping around. I'd def buy again.

Great Shoe! I have worn this style for 10 years.
Love these shoes! So much so, I’ve been wearing this same style Keen ever since I had a below the knee amputation, and started walking with a prosthetic leg almost 10 years ago. Most of my time spent walking on them was split between 12 hour shifts at a hospital where I was on my feet most of the time, and the 14 acre farm I owned and managed. A pair of Brixens lasted 18-24 months while I was full-time at the hospital, and around a year if the majority of my time was spent working on the farm. I’ve had my current pair since early October and they are comfortably broken in. Mostly on the farm, this pair does seem to be wearing a little faster than usual. Disclaimer: I am 6’3” 325 lbs with my prosthetic leg on. My weight has varied as much as 100 lbs during a couple times I was wearing (out) a pair of these shoes. I have ADHD and put shoes through many steps through each day, many times, many steps in the same room (joke...but true). These shoes should last any normal walker/hiker much longer than they last me, maybe even twice as long.I’ve included photos to show my one complaint about the last two pairs of the Keen Men’s Brixen shoes...the stitching on the right side of the right shoe breaks and starts to unravel. If I was diligent and repaired it right away it wouldn’t be an issue. I would give up half a star of responsibility (my weight and heavy use) and rate them 4 1/2 stars if I could. The dirt is from working on the farm and in the wood shop, welding shop, horse barn. The waterproof feature keeps my feet (foot) dry and warm. And after a few days to a week, the shoes have been broken in and maintain comfort for the next year and a half to two years. Even when the soles have almost completely warn out, these shoes remain comfortable.Bottom Line: Tough, durable, long lasting, comfortable shoe that I have been wearing for 10 years (5 pairs) and will continue to wear as long as Keen keeps making them.
