Fifth Seal (A. D. Chronicles, Book 5)

This novel is about the months before and including the birth of Christ. The authors have researched extensively to put forth a work like this, using Biblical, historical and hypothetical characters to portray an in-depth account of what it might have been like for Joseph and Mary and others while living under the rule of an evil King and dealing with the problems they were to face. It would have been a most dangerous time for a child to be born. I think it is a fascinating read, and the authors do a exceptional job to gives us a look into the many challenges that the people had to endure and the miracles that helped them along the way. It is a very sensitive portrayal of some great and humble people and their faith and courage. They do great on characterization. The last portion of this book is an evaluation on feelings.

Every word of this Christian historical novel helps a Believer to better know the story of our Savior’s birth. It is beautifully written so that one can imagine being there as a part of this incredible event. Times were very tumultuous, but God found a way to come down & save His people through the Christ Child.

Highly recommend First Light, first book in the series by the Thoens. I have read the first six and am on the seventh now. All are so very well laid out and make the reader feel like they know the characters. Much of the book is first person, but there is some narrative also. All the books are written this way. It sheds light on characters from the Bible in their historical setting, facing the challenges of their time under the Roman rule and Jewish culture of their location. Time permitting, I can stay rivited to these books, absorbed as the multiple plots for each character play out. Plan to read other series when I complete this one.

Love this series! It brings scriptures to life. I learn a lot of Messianic Jewish thoughts and traditions used in the Bible.

Loved the story from Joseph’s point of view the questions he asked r for all of us Learning of Jewish custom also beneficial. Looked like a lot of research went into project. Most importantly the authors stayed true to the Truth in the Bible!!!

The scriptures come alive in this ... another awesome book by the Thoene family. A perfect read for the blessed days of Christmas. Thank you!

I really enjoy hearing the Hebrew words and their meaning. These studies with the Hebrew give such deep insight to the many different modern day Bible versions.

I chose this rating because this book is worth more than five stars. It is a good record of what happened during those days before Jesus came into the world. There is so much Scripture which makes more authentic and such a blessing to check the Bible to see if the verses are correct. There is enough of the Gospel in this book to lead a person into a living relationship with Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.

Perhaps not as good as the first in the series but a continuing theme which I enjoyed. The books do gradually get thinner in the series along with appeal!

On behalf of my Mum :Excellent read - could not put down. Thoene never fails to impress or inspire.
