Terrible title, but great book
I usually avoid things with titles like this, as they tend to sell a simplified solution. This is not a cure for diabetes that takes 30 days, but it is a great resource for someone trying to find a natural way to get healthier when faced with high blood sugar. My mother had used this book with good success, and went through the 30 day plan several times. I didn't ever do that, and used it instead as an information resource. What I can say is that for many a solution without medication is a possibility. My blood sugar was well into diabetes range a little over a year ago, and I decided to try to bring it down with diet and exercise.Over the last year each checkup has seen my blood sugar go down and all of the other readings get better. At the last appointment, I was officially no longer diabetic. Some important things I learned:It is very hard to do alone. I am fortunate to have a completely supportive partner. Get as much support as you can. This is a lifetime change. I made all of the changes knowing they are permanent.Know your strengths and weaknesses. For example, I can't get a bag of chips and plan to eat three of them a day, I will eventually cheat. I have to give them up completely. On the other hand I am never tempted to eat my partners snacks, so having them around the house is not an issue.Find healthy treats. I love cayenne pepper, and every meal that has me sweating is special. Maybe you love shrimp or pistachios.Anyway, I highly recommend this book. It can be a great tool in finding a healthier, happier life, possibly without the side effects of medication. Good luck on your journey.

Excellent book! Good information! Read it!
This is a wonderful book for anyone who may have diabetes or who is interested in preventing it due to family medical history as I am. The author does an excellent job of explaining why calories are not the most important thing to consider, and why body chemistry is so important to know about. He explains, in language anyone can understand, the difference between good fats that help to heal your body, and the fats found in most people's diets, from fast food or convenience foods which are devastating to your health. Starting on the first day, if you are willing, you can make sensible changes which begin to heal your body and as you progress each day your diet is changing and becoming more what your body needs to heal itself and hopefully lessen your need for medications. I found it easy to eat the way he suggests, and the best thing is I am slowly losing weight around the middle without really trying. Clothes are roomier, bending over is easier, and I feel much better after being on his plan for 2 months now. It's all about a sensible life style with better food choices and a bit of exercise, not really all that much. It's doable and I recommend it to anyone who may just want to know more about nutrition and wellness as much as I recommend it for anyone who may be struggling with diabetes itself.

Not worth the money
Although this book claims to be a step by step guide, I found it a bit lacking. For example, day one says to take a break from sugar. OK, I've already done this. But even if I haven't, what should I be eating? The book doesn't tell you that. So if you are looking for a book that will detail a meal plan for you, this isn't it.There's a lot of good information in the book, but frankly there was nothing new that I hadn't read in other books on the same subject. Because it does have some helpful information I am not rating it as being completely useless. There is no way, in my opinion, that it was worth almost fifty dollars. For about 20 bucks you could get "The 30-Day Diabetes Miracle: Lifestyle Center of America's Complete Program for Overcoming Diabetes, Restoring Health, and Rebuilding Natural Vitality", which I read and thought was pretty good. It has much of the same information, except that it is a plant based diet.I'm not associated with Lifestyle Center of America, but I did attend a retreat in Arizona about 3 years ago.I guess there isn't one book with all the answers and it's probably best to seek information from a variety of sources. I just wouldn't recommend this book.

I highly recommend this book not only to diabetics
This book saved my friend’s leg and possibly his life! I bought this book five years ago to help a friend of mine. When I learned about his diabetes, he was on the verge of amputating his right leg. His doctor had told him he needed to cut his leg to save him. He already had amputated all his toes then. I gave him the book as a last resort. For the first ten days he followed Dr.Ripich’s diet in the book. After the first ten days his blood sugar level, which used to be 350-400, dropped to around 100! He reported this to his doctor and declared that he did not need the surgery. Today he is as healthy as any normal person. I highly recommend this book not only to diabetics, but also anyone who is interested in preventing diabetes and being healthy.

Life Changing
I was diagnosed with Diabetes in March at a school screening where I worked. I went to the Doctor and was placed on METFORMINE. My mom told me not to take the METFORMINE until after I tried this book. It is easy to read, teaches you why certain items are bad for you, and gives suggestions on things you can do instead. I went from an A1C of 8.75 to 7.0 in one month and am now down to 6.5. I also have my blood sugar levels down to 99. I still have work to do to lose more weight but I have already lost 25 lbs. His advice really works if you follow it. I am not saying it is easy to revise you life style, but he does a great job of telling you why you need to, and how to do it.

Good program, but very American
Too early to be clear to me, however I have reduced my insulin daily by 20% so far. Good program, but very American.
