Bear Spray with Nylon Holster

Haven't had to use... yet. Bought due to bull dogs. Mother in law attacked and bit in small town. Next day, man was killed in his driveway by dogs(2) in same town. Would rather use this than a 38 but need to keep options available. Only drawback here is wind considerations. There is a need for familiarization with this before carry. Appears well made.

I bought this for a little peace of mind while out on the hiking trails. Does it work? I don’t know. But it makes me feel more confident having it when it’s just me and my dog in the woods.

These are great! The price is good and the product is quality. And yes, I've actually used it. We live in black bear country and those critters will climb over our five foot porch railing to get to the door and windows. This spray will send them running lickity-split and they won't come back. I just spray it right through the screens.But be careful, if you get a back spray, you'll be coughing and sneezing and you won't be able to open your excessively watering, burning eyes so be sure to shut the door or window quickly until it dissipates and if your outside, head off in an upwind direction. And don't get it on your hands because this stuff doesn't just wash off; it has to wear off. Use with caution for sure but don't be afraid to use it. It's the only thing we've found that'll send the bears packing, never to return....until we get a newbie bear that needs to learn that he shouldn't be trying to break into people homes!

So it's hard to review something that I didn't actually get to use for it's intended purpose. I bought this for going up north into bear country and wanted something to deter the bear and not have to use a gun. The size is good and it fit well in the holster and it was easy to clip to the straps on my backpack so it was easy to reach at all times. I didn't have the chance to actually use it, the upside to my life and the bears but not so much for a review. I can't say for sure it works since I didn't get the chance to use it. I can tell you I really wanted to see it work so when I got back home I waited to have a day where the wind was not blowing to much and blasted it off. I measured this as best I could and from me holding it at about 5ft off the ground and blasting straight away, the fall off spot was about 17 ft. away. Not sure I want a bear within 17 ft of me or not but seems like a last resort.

Cannot comment on the efficacy but wanted to note the size. A 9 ounce can is not small. This is my first bear spray purchase and was expecting a much smaller can. This is ok though because the clip on the holder case is very strong. The case is very sturdy and I would imagine holding up fine under years of rough treatment. Materials are excellent. The plastic packaging it arrived in was easy to open. I am thrilled with this purchase since I can now expand my travels and camping.

As advertised. I highly recommend. No complaints from me :) Very nice!

1. I tested it at least once and it has a nice reach (didn't want to test it the first time in need)2. You definitely need the holster. It's got a nice clip that hooks onto your belt3. Keep it away from your eyes. During my test I sprayed it away from me and yet a few particles flew back and hit me in the eyes. I washed them for 30 minutes. At least I know it works4. It's got a safely clip so you don't press it and discharge by mistake5. It can fit into a backpack's side pocket if you prefer. I like the holster

I purchased a can in January 2023, always kept it in the pouch of my backpack. When I wasn’t hiking it was stored with my backpack indoors. I went on a hike today and decided since I had not used it yet I would do a blast and see what it did. I was NOT impressed……the 1st blast I did went 10 feet at the most. I read the instructions again to see if I was supposed to shake it. The 2nd blast I tried holding a little higher angle, 12 feet at the most. It was more of an arc of liquid than a stream of spray. Also, I thought it would be more of a fog, NOPE, very small pattern of liquid. I just ordered UDAP Pepper Power Bear Spray, highest concentration and supposed to be a 30 foot fog. I got the dual pack and can’t wait to see the difference……I hope. If you have not tried a discharge of your bear spray I suggest that you do, you may want a different brand. This spray definitely gave me a false security thinking it would go farther.
