Paige Banjo/Mandolin Capo - Nickel

ONLY works if you have a flat headstock
The good and the bad. This capo has FANTASTIC sound - better than any other I've used. However, it is very hard to put on and off. The hinge is super stiff and it's hard to open and remove. This wouldn't be a problem if you store your capo above the nut. However, my good banjo has a lovely carved neck that flares before the nut. the size is very limited, so with any flare at all, the capo won't fit up there. Because the hinge is so stiff adding and removing it from that banjo is MUCH slower than retuning. What's the point?I have another banjo that is simpler and has a flat head. On that banjo I can loosen the screw, put it in place, play, and then store it above the nut. Great sound. A little slow, but useable.

My favorite capo for banjo
I have the Planet agaves NS capo, which is very good and the Kyser quick change, which I don't like that much because of all the "airspace" it takes up.I think the Paige does the best job as a capo, and you can store it behind the nut. The others are harder to keep track of. Also, the string padding for the Paige appears to be made of aquarium air tubing, so it will be really cheap and easy to replace if/when that's required (mine came with an extra 1.5" of tubing as a spare). The planet waves NS is my next favorite, but the Paige applies force to both sides of the neck, and again, stores behind the nut, so it wins, IMO.

Affordable and functional banjo capo
As a banjo capo, this works as well for me as a far more expensive brand with a similar design. It stores neatly above the nut and doesn’t need to be removed to fit into my case. Tension is fully adjustable, it’s inconspicuous, and never gets in my way. The only limitation is that it can be used only on the first four frets, but I’ve never had to capo above the fifth, anyway.

Good solid capo
Rather than a spring loaded capo, I prefer a capo that I can tighten to just the amount I want to lessen problems with strings going out of tune. This is good for that purpose. Well made and easy to use. Recommended if you like this style of capo.

Best budget capo
I bought this as a replacement for the Paige "Clik" capo, which I really didn't like. This, the original Paige design, is simpler, just as quick and easy to use, and a couple dollars less expensive. I have a very old Paige capo too, which I think is made out of stainless steel - it seems as though it will last forever, and this new one looks to be just as sturdy.

quality for sure
These are really nice. I mean the design makes it slow to setup compared to a clamp on. But you won't loose these. I bought a few to install on several banjos and they worked well no matter the fret size or shape of neck.

Great capo
This capo is very easy to use and I love that I can store it on the neck. No more digging around to find my capo! Gives a nice even pressure on the strings. The neck on my banjo is very narrow so I had to add something to fill the gap.

Pro capo!
These capos work great and you always have it ready because it’s right there on the neck. I saw Billy Strings uses these types of capos and I was sold. I use them on my guitars and mandolins.
