This book was amazing!
I am so happy my husband, son and I had the privilege of reading this book. It is very inspiring. It makes you appreciate what you have. It also made me have the desire to not rely so much on the comfort of having. The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind has inspired me to continue to train my son to be well balanced in what he learns in and out of the classroom. Hopefully we as a family can help others in our journey.

Book is great, but the middle of it is printed backward
My son is really enjoying the book, but about 1/3 of it is printed backward and reversed. Itโs been very frustrating for him.

This book is a great model of what one person with an idea could do
This book is a great model of what one person with an idea could do. โThe Boy Who Harnessed the Wind,โ is an autobiographical novel written by William Kamkwamba and Bryan Mealer. It focuses on how WIlliam Kamwamba tries to make a windmill from scraps even though he could not continue going to school. When Williamโs tiny village in Malawi, Africa, was struck by a horrendous famine, he and family could barely feed each other due to the loss of crops, leave alone paying for school. Forced to drop out of school, William found a library book that gave him a huge idea - he could build a windmill for power made out of scraps and not only could it help his family, but it could also help the village. It is truly a story about an inspiring boy that changed many lives. It takes you on a rollercoaster of emotion with a lot of twists and turns. โI tried and I succeededโ is one of the best quotes. The problem and the words William Kamkawamba used were so realistic, it made the book come alive.I recommend it for people who want to hear about overcoming problems, a different culture, and a heroโs journey. People from ten and beyond should read this. I rate this a 5/5 book because of its plot and word of choice. I really liked the ending of the book when he described what he changed. Also it gave me an important realization of how people struggle to get education. If you read this, you will be inspired.

Wow! Read it with your kids.
My fourth grader was reading this in school so I got a copy and read at home with him at night. The main character is amazing. A boy with strength, intelligence, ingenuity, grit, and a big heart. Please read.

I Got Goosebumps
In today's world of consumerism where the real value of things is often lost, this book brings you back to the basics. I would recommend that every Middle School student should have this book as a compulsory read. At the very least it would give them a greater appreciation for everything they have, at best it would inspire them to be curious and to never give up. What an incredible role model William is. I felt humbled as I read his life story. I felt frustrated at the unfairness of the world. I felt inspired by his strength of character and beautiful soul. I'm sure the world has not heard the last of William Kamkwamba!

Disappointing print quality.
I am not sure if Amazon is responsible for printing this book? The quality is very poor the cover is not to the edges of the pages and is very roughly cut. The back cover is also printed at a slant. Very disappointing.

Great read for 9 - 11 year old children
Great read for 9 - 11 year old children. Documents life in Malawi and the discovery of wind power by a boy who could not afford to go to school, but acted on his own initiative to help his family. Did all the research in the library!
