Sam Who Never Forgets

One of my favorite children’s books. It is a simple story, which is why children love it and relate to it. Never met a kid who did not love this book.

This was my children’s favorite book. I have given copies of it to my grandchildren, great nieces and nephews and the children of friends accompanied by a ceramic elephant ornament. It is always well received.

It is so good to see this book available again. My children grew up with the colorful pictures and gentle prose of Eve Rice's tale. I think although the title is about Sam, the story is really about Elephant, who thinks he has been forgotten when Sam the Zookeeper feeds the rest of the animals. What Elephant doesn't know is that Sam has only gone off to get Elephant a special wagon full of the food Elephant loves. And isn't that what life is like? Real happy endings are not about getting what we want, but about getting Even More, often in surprising ways. I am getting this for nieces and nephews now, and will save a few copies for the I'm-hoping-for-someday grandchildren.

I love reading this book to my nephew! He loves all the animals and wants to be a zoo keeper when he grows up. It is such a classic!

This is my baby's favorite book and it's mine too, maybe I read it too much to her and that's why she likes it. Beautiful story and a plus is that my huband's name is Sam so it makes the story even funnier

Another Eve Rice book that I have read to my children and grandson. Simple story, easy to "read along".

I bought this book for my own children 35 years ago and they enjoyed it immensely. Buying it now for my grandchild. Just a very good book and format. Fact that I remember it says it all.

I bought this book over 30 years ago for my son and it became a firm favourite when he was 2/3. Now I have tracked it down again for his children who are 2 year old twins living in Australia. It's a gentle story about a zoo which elicits empathy in young children.

Re living the past! I bought this for my son aged 33 to read to his son....just as I had to him 30 years ago!..Perfect

動物園の飼育係のサムが色んな動物に好物の食べ物を運んでいくんですが、最後に象さん、ってところでサムのワゴンが空になりサムはトットと視界から消えます。象さんはお腹が空いているし他の皆はたべものをもらってるし、「僕のこと忘れたの、忘れたの？」って大声を上げて泣きそうになる寸前にサムが戻ってくるんです。何が良いかって、自分が動物園で見た動物がおいしそうに何を食べるのか、子供は興味津々。必ずしもそれ食べないって思うかもしれないけど関係ないんです、絵本なんだから。絵もとっても可愛い、パステル調でほんわかしてます。至る所に風船が書いてあるから、この年頃は風船好きだしなぁって、読者のこと分かって書いてらっしゃるんだと思いました。動物園へ行きだしたら、是非買って読んであげてください。眺めるだけでも分かる内容ですよ。
