"The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn"
An action packed animated film, I first saw "The Adventures of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn" in the cinema. As a viewer with no knowledge of the books or the comic strips, I can honestly say that I absolutely loved it! Well suited to the big screen and shot in 3D, it proved to be a fantastic watch on the big screen, making the really dramatic scenes blare out. The same applies even in original 2D, on a HD television; it's that good! The storyline itself moves at a nice pace, with journalist Tintin picking up certain information on the legendary, titular ship prior to buying it in miniature to include in his newspaper report, accompanied by his loveable dog Snowy. The computer generated imagery is incredibly realistic, from the streets of Brussels to the ceaselessly moving ocean, the dusty desert and the domed buildings of the fictional land of Bagghar. Full to bursting with high speed chases, brilliant escapes, top notch fight scenes and with the voice talents of Jamie Bell, Andy Serkis, Daniel Craig, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg, this is one incredibly watchable and fun film.

Amazing film, the animation is fantastic because I remember seeing it for the first time with my dad in the cinema when it was released, and neither of us were initially sure whether the film was made with actors or if it utilised CGI. Now that we know it is CGI, it amazes us that the animation is so detailed and subtle that it looks as human as it does. The story is a wonderful one of friendship and childlike ideas of adventure with sword fights and treasure and legendary heroes who you can actually trace back to your family or in this case, Captain Haddock's. The brilliantly fast scenes such as the chase of the bird of prey which has the scrolls flows very well considering they're animated. Those scenes in particular draw you in, and as much danger as there is in these scenes, that doesn't really occur to the viewer, as they're done so that the're really more humorous than tense due to mortal peril and heroism. The score is also wonderful, a great work by John Williams yet again, so funny and still appropriately dramatic and full of emotion and drama. And it's a brilliant nod to everything that the original Tintin comics by Herge were. All in all, a great family film, but still brilliant in the all the separate parts that make it up so that you can enjoy it as an adult watching it on your own.

Indian Jones Meets Tintin
As you would expect from Steven Spielberg, The Secret of the Unicorn is very Indiana Jones, with thrill and spills and visual imagery galore. Had I been rating it on this alone I would have pestered Amazon to allow six stars; however, and sadly, the wandering and therefore confusing script spoils possible perfection. This is largely due to the film's plot being an amalgamation of more than one of Herge's books, more's the pity. As a metaphor for the script, the opera singer Bianca Castafiore pops up out of nowhere and just as quickly disappears for no apparent reason other than to (I'm guessing) squeeze in as many Herge characters into the film as possible. Still, the positives outweigh the negatives, and by some distance. Great for children and adults alike, the characters are faithfully recreated, the atmosphere is very 'Herge', the animation is unsurpassed, the acting top notch, the action sequences brilliant, the comedic moments genuinely funny, and topping it all is Tin Tin's faithful sidekick Snowy. Never before have I routed so much for a character.

I started towatch this on TV
I started to watch this on TV, about a quarter of the way through I searched Amazon for a 3D version, I wasn't dissappointed the 3D is excellent, there is much humour in the script and on screen, the animation is second to none, without doubt the best modern animation I've seen ( I've been a die hard fan of the old style) Snow White, Fantasia etc, but this movie has changed my mind towards accepting the newer styles of animated film making, and it's fun entertainment, a good all-rounder for everyone.

An Animated Classic, Worthy of Many Repeat Viewings
An absolutely first rate yarn, which is energetically depicted in a deluge of cliff-hanger moments, which grip the viewer's attention from beginning to end. Subtle humour together with the panoramic backcloths in diverse geographical environments add to the overall experience.Having watched this animation several times now and alongside family members representing a wide range of age groups, I have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Fun adventure movie for Tintin fans
This has been watched more than twenty times by my six-year-old daughter who is a big Tintin fan. Well-plotted and full of action - and humour - this is a lovely movie, with some great scene-changing sequences. It's not entirely faithful to the original books - Captain Haddock is introduced here as a new character, and a few other details differ - but highly enjoyable nonetheless. Very atmospheric.

The Perfect Movie
Quite a bold claim, but I think it's justified. I have been a big fan of Tintin for pretty much my whole life. Obviously, therefore, I was nervous when they announced a movie adaption. (They're never as good as the books). I needn't have been worried. It was fantastic. You could see scene-for-scene that they had taken it right out of the graphic novels. They hadn't messed with the story (too much), there were subtle bits of humor (watch his hair in the mirrors in the first scene, that's my favourite), and it didn't feel rushed. It's a CG animated movie, but it doesn't feel cartoony. It has the cartoony elements, but feels very real. The character's lifelikeness rivals that of Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, and I don't think anything has matched that in over a decade. Then there's the grandiose scale of it all. CG lends itself to big scale, but this really takes the biscuit. Then there's the 3D. Yes, it has been gimicky in the past, but it does work well here. I could go on, but I don't want to spoil it. Please watch and enjoy.

a wonderful mix of Secret of the Unicorn & Red Rackmam's ...
a wonderful mix of Secret of the Unicorn & Red Rackmam's Treasure & Crab with the Golden Claws with the magnificent change to those stories that there must be a fight-to-the-death between the descendants of the original combatants Haddock & Rackham. & Tintin's chase from the palace to the riverfront is MAGNIFICENT! shame there will not be a sequel
