Unrealistic expectations
Very well written. This books highlights multiple issues in Pakistani society. Samra was not the only one who was abused. Unfortunately her husband was very badly abused by his parents. Inlaws expected her to be their glorified maid/slave while her husband had different expectations. Samra wanted completely different things in life. This created a very complicated situation. However, she came out fine and doing well.

Everyone needs an education.
While Canada, like every country, has all sorts of problems, this book is amazing in showing that in this country we have opportunities to escape, to become the person we want to be.I grew up in small town Canada- poor in an alcoholic and abusive household, trapped in a physical and emotional turmoil that seemed unavoidable. But through reading and education I too found the opportunities I needed to become the person I wanted to be. I had amazing people who didn’t know me helping me when I needed it most. Using my own determination not to perpetuate the cycle I became a successful person in my life, personally and socially. I have an amazing network of family and friends and a daughter who is now the mother I always wished I could be.While the authors culture and upbringing was very different she clearly shows how her strength and determination allowed so many people to help her find her way. Congratulations to an amazing spirit. We are a country dedicated to social change and equality. Long may it continue.

What an incredibly gutsy woman!
A great story about a woman who manages to extricate herself from a life of obeisance and virtual slavery. She sees her situation as a prison, but a prison she can escape! Wow, her story provokes a lot of anger within me, but more than that, Ms. Zafar is a human being who inspires hope and courage to anyone who needs to overcome some overwhelming odds against living a life of freedom to bloom. A fabulous read!

Samra Zafar - A Good Wife
I chose this book for my research work in literature. This book is absolutely worth reading. Samra zafar a women who was married at a very young age to an older man who had lot of stereotypes took away her right to freedom , to accomplish her dream nd n many other ways. However she tried to make her relationship or their marriage a success one , it never become one because she was emotionally, physically , mentally abused by her husband often. Her dream to get into University nd become successful in her career was becoming difficult to become a reality. She wanted to end this cycle of abuse . She has overcome lot of struggle throughout her life to enter a university nd completing her graduation. She was very hardworking. Through her hardwork , good support nd mentoring from others changed her life completely. She achieved her dream nd today she's an example to many women in the world.

The Good wife was mistreated
Very sad story in many aspects that Samra was so mistreated by her husband and his family. Because of her culture, it took her a VERY long time to mange to leave this relationship. I find it quite amazing that she was able to accomplish the education she did while under such stress.I am going to be looking at women who may have the same situation more carefully in future and hoping for better lives.

A must read, Samra is brave in sharing her story.
An incredible story of strength and perserverance. A topic not talked about much in eastern cultures. Proud of Samra for shining a light on this subject. Too many women face abuse and feel trapped. This book will hopefully build awareness to help many others. She could have stayed silent but instead decided to make her story public. Very brave and inspiring. A book I couldnt put down. The writing was excellent. Highly recommend. I believe every girl should read this book. The mentality of a wife being property is all too common in eastern culture. Parents should learn from this as should the husbands.
