This is a beautiful book. It is slick and shiny and well put together. The nutritional data is great, if that is important to you and you keep track of such things. However.......... I was expecting something more substantial as regards the recipe content. So many of the gluten-free Mediterranean books I've seen contain great recipes....but they are all the same recipes that don't normally contain wheat or gluten. I wanted to find a book that would show how to make classic, gluten-containing recipes..... without gluten. Wouldn't it have been amazing to find a way of making Manti gluten-free, healthy, and delicious? Or any one of the Boreks? Gozleme? Sheperkare? Ezogelin Corbasi? Comfort food, soul food, is much missed when one has to go gluten-free. One actually feels deprived of one of life's simple pleasures. But I did not find comfort in this book. For the size of the book, I expected much more. The recipes, although beautifully photographed, were simplistic - a few ingredients and basic instructions ....nothing complicated or terribly interesting. No creative genius at work here. A very simple recipe (four ingredients, put 'em in a saucepan and simmer until they thicken, cool down and it's done) took up two slick pages, and then was repeated two or three more times as complete recipes when only one ingredient changed. Those could easily have been "variations" on the first recipe. Instead, it made the book feel padded...bulked-up for presentation purposes. I hate to say it, but I could have cooked circles around the recipes in here with very little effort. Save your money, or give as a gift to someone who is not much of a cook and will be appropriately impressed. It is a pretty book.

It's okay.
Photographs of the meals are beautiful, however, the recipe instructions are lacking and the photo of the recipe did not always coincide with the recipe itself. Steps are missing. I know how to cook, so I get by without well written instructions, but I just think it's sloppy.

Be more specific, please.
I used a recipe for "Salmon with Honey and Mustard Sauce" which was published in an advertisement in National Geographic's Traveler Magazine. The recipe is a good one, but frustrating since it didn't tell what to do with the 1 medium onion called for. Was it to be combined with the garlic, olive oil salt, mustard and honey to make the marinade? Also, I didn't know if the mustard was to be prepared mustard or mustard powder. Finally, the recipe said to cook the salmon at 320 degrees, but didn't say how long.A little more instruction would be helpful! The salmon was great, though, and I did chop up the onion and used it in the marinade. I guessed at the rest.
