Great question! The answer depends on the brand of underglaze used. If you have used our Speedball Underglazes or the leading competitor brand, three liberal coats of our Clear Earthenware Glaze will intensify the color as both of these underglazes have been formulated for a velvet finish. That said, we strongly recommend performing a test since some glaze brands do not work well with other brands. Q: Is this glaze suitable for raku fire?

Yes, it is a cone 05 or 06 suitable for raku, I have used many gallons with good results. This glaze is beautiful and vibrant with three coats.

Q: Can these be used on air dry clay? Or they just won't dry unless they are put on a kiln? Thanks

Speedball Earthenware Glazes are formulated for use with clay that has been bisqued to Cone 04 and fire from Cone 05-06.

These are low fire glazes. Cone 05/06 not 6
