Great product
When people ask me about these they ask me if its faster, my reply is like this..... Not as much in the traditional way as you might think. You still have to separate the wires and put them in the correct order so there really is no time saving there. You also can get the wires do slide up and through the other end easier and as compared to the traditional connector there might be a slight time savings there, as I personally have found that much easier but my co-workers were not as proficient (like everything practice makes you better). Yes the wires can still get crossed and you have to remove and re-sort. That is the key point and the biggest time saver by far in my opinion. The fact that you can do that and it can easily be seen means there is no need to completely start over as with the traditional connectors. For someone like me this is huge as I am not the worlds fastest to begin with and working with such little room for error that the time savings is significant. It is also much easier on the eyes, as often I could not see my mistake (traditional) when looking through the plastic to see my error. I think they are also ideal for someone who's vision is what it use to be as you can clearly tell if you have done it correctly. I also don't know how you can measure frustration but for me avoiding it is very big and these do that. I do think they are too expensive for what they are as really there isn't a lot of difference in the connectors from a physical standpoint. That being said I won't go back to the other connectors they have been a real god send.

Where has this been all my life???
I've been in the computer industry for over 30 years now. I've run and terminated all types of cable but only on an as needed basis. Twisted pair has always been a pain for me because my hands aren't exactly very small or adept at fine coordination. Let's face it, I'm a programmer, not a surgeon. In the past, I always ended up getting one wire crossed up when I would push the wires into the connector. It would usually take me 3 or 4 attempts the first time I started a new set of cables before I would get my hands used to holding the cable just right to get the wires into the right grooves. I got these today and immediately tried it out. The wires came out the other end just like the picture shows and oops, I had one set wrong. I pulled them back out, corrected the set I had wrong and pushed them back in, crimped it and on to the other end. I ran my new cable through a cable tester and WOW, it was right on.The only concern I have would probably be fixed by buying the recommended EZ-RJ45 Crimp Tool which says it crimps and trims the excess wires at the same time. I just used my old standard crimp tool and wire cutters. I found I did have to be careful how far into my crimp tool I pushed the connector to make sure it crimped the contacts as well as the plastic part that holds the cable in place. But this is not a problem with the connectors, it is due to the crimp tool I was using.Anyone want about 1000 old style connectors, these are all I will be using from now on.

Best fittings for making cables I have seen
With the easy crimpers as well as these fittings, you can't mess this up. I have seen reports of others here claiming they had crimp errors and one side either 1/8 doesn't crimp all the way.... I cannot repeat this error on my end. I have crimped up quite a few patch cables and home runs and have not had a bad crimp yet.Cut your wire long...too long, who cares about 2 or 3 inches of extra cable? Push one in at a time looking at the end after each to make sure you do not push through to the next slot. When all 8 are in, push the connector back until you start feeling a bit of tension. I then take my thumb and fan the wires a little with some pressure. If you are using a B wiring scheme, you are splitting green and this will cause a crossover at the edge of the connector. By fanning it there, you make sure the wiring is already set where it needs to be and then just press the connector back over the jacket nice and firm. Pull the 8 wires with gentle pressure while pushing the connector on and it is cake. With the crimpers, just slide the fitting in after funneling the excess wire through the hole and crimp. The crimper cuts flush and boff, in your face. Perfect crimp every time. I still use a Fluke Intelli-tone Pro200 to check my cables just to be sure. I have had no trouble yet and doing these crimps have saved so much time and frustration.

Platinum Tools RJ45 is worth the price - Excellent Cat5 Connector
We are professional contractor installing low voltage wiring. I was wary of paying 50 cents apiece for RJ45 connectors when you can buy them for 5 cents. However, when you consider the time it takes to redo a connector which is not spliced correctly, these things pay for themselves immediately. These connectors are at least twice as fast to install as standard connectors. The description is pretty subtle on what makes these so great, so I will expound. With a typical RJ45, you try to get the insulation cut back to expose the conductors, straighten out COnductors to enter RJ45 in the right order ... meaning you usually cut them long, then trim back before inserting in RJ45 before crimping. You end up with a fault if you 1) fail to have one wire enter RJ45 completely, or 2) get the wiring in wrong order. This connector solves that problem. You cut back the insulation (recommend the Platinum Tools stripper that sells for $13 on Amazon) and leave the conductors long. You set up wires in proper order and push them through the connector and they will stick out the front ... so you can verify both the order and continuous wire. Using the Platinum Tools Crimper, you crimp the wires and the tool automatically cuts the excess conductors off flush with the connector. Some reviewers have commented that they use an exacto knife. That works for the hobbyist, but if you do this for a living, invest in the proprietary crimper. It is of superior quality as well. SO know we are using these connectors exclusively for our network connections.

Just Awesome
These connectors are great. They help speed up the chore of making patch cables by letting you quickly verify the pin order for the wires and by providing a passthrough for the individual wires, avoiding the need for trimming. The cables produced using these connectors end up better then when typical connectors are used as they help you minimize the length that each pair is untwisted and the clamp is sure to get a solid grip on the outer jacket. If you hate making ethernet cables, but can't avoid making them, then these are the connectors that you have been looking for. Since I started using these connectors I have had to remake a patch cable due to a miswire. The only real problem with these connectors is that to really finish them off well you need to use the matching crimp tool. You can use your current favorite, but the matching tool is of pretty good quality and reduces the effort needed. If you plan on making just a few cables at a time, then you can probably skip the matching crimp tool and use a knife or wire cutters to cut the excess, but if you are going to be making a lot of cables then I would spend the money and get the matching tool. You will not be disappointed with these connectors.

These make incorrect wiring pretty hard to accomplish
You need the EZ-RJ45 Crimping tool for these. These make incorrect wiring pretty hard to accomplish, however they are not flawless. I found that solid core wire does not work well with these connectors, the crimp tool, or both. I never had a problem with any stranded wire crimping. What happens is that the 1st and last wire seem to not get properly crimped. If you look end on, it appears that these edge wires get mashed down into the connector, rather than the copper teeth penetrating the wire sheath. Sometimes it did work, but I would say out of 10 or so that I tried, at least half had a problem. Fortunately I have mostly stranded cabling at this point, so it's not a problem for me, but if you routinely use solid core wire, I would not use these connectors or the EZ-RJ45 crimping tool.

OMG - Buy these and never ever ever look back.. EZ Crimps work great.
OMG - These connectors are AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG why did I use those old ones, they were so bad and these are SOOOOOOOOOOOO good. I threw my old ones away after I used these... Don't sit on the fence, just buy these and use your old faithfull crimper (if it works) Seems the reviews on the EZ crimper aren't that good but don't be confused. These EZ connectors are awesome. I can't understand how there could even be a negative remark with these. Even if customers service didn't exist, if they were made in China or anything - who cares - these work awesome!!!I used my old crimper and used a heavy duty box cutter to slice the wires off and just squeezed on the wire to pull back in ever so slightly. I have never been able to make cables at will within a few minutes before - Now I can... Amazingly cool...

Works great as long as you get the wires in the correct positions.
I have been using these for one year. If you have some small wire cutters. You don't need the crimp tools designed for these. I use the Eclipse Ratcheting crimper model 902-360. Once the cable is crimped. I cut wires flush with the end of the connector. The crimp tool that is designed to crimp these connectors. It will cut the wires off for you during the crimping process. I already had my Eclipse crimpers and small wire cutters. It was pointless for me to buy a duplicate tool. Who doesn't have small wire cutters? If you are making your own cables. You will need something to cut the cable with. These work well and look great with the clear strain relief boots. make it extremely easy to make error free RJ45 patch cables
Why this wasn't the standard from the beginning is beyond me. This plug, and the crimp tool used for these special plugs, make it extremely easy to make error free RJ45 patch cables. I watched a couple of videos on YouTube which showed exactly how to make the connections easily. Followed their examples and was able to make a patch cable in minutes. I have an Ideal crimp tool and had made cables the old-fashioned way, but it was always hit-and-miss. The wires would always try to slip back from the connectors in the plug while crimping them. This plug ends all of the frustration. Wires go through the plug end and are cut off when using the Platinum Tools 100054C Clamshell EZ-RJPRO HD Crimp Tool. I read some people having issues using this tool crimping these plugs, but if you look at the videos on YouTube first and learn how to use the tool, you'll have no problems at all.

Works well.
Used these with cat-6 cable. The first one took ten minutes while I figured out how poke the wires through in sequence. Later connections took less than a minute, and half of that was for stripping the cable. The retaining clip is weak. It lays flat and needs to be bent up before it will retain the connector in a socket. That cost a star.Pay attention to the conductor gauge -- large 22g wires don't fit. 23g and smaller wires work fine. The special tool is not needed. A sharp retractable utility knife can be used to cut off the ends of the wires that stick out the front of the connector after it is crimped.

Easy to use
I tried using a conventional connector and found it difficult to get the wires cut evenly and inserted in the right order. By comparison, these connectors are much easier to use. You still have to get the wires arranged in the right order, but if the wires twist around while you're inserting them, it's easy to pull them out and try again.I don't have the special crimping tool that cuts off the wires, so I just used a regular crimping tool. This left the wires sticking out the front of the connector, but there were no plastic bits sticking out, as another reviewer mentioned. I found it fairly easy to cut off the excess wire flush with the connector using an Exacto knife. So far I've built two cables, and both work fine.Overall, I think these are great connectors for people who have no experience building ethernet cables.

Work Well. But You'll Have to Buy the $70 Crimper.
Work well. You can see the color order before you crimp, and correct mistakes without withdrawing all the wires. Just pull out the ones that are misplace with needle-nose pliers and insert them again in the right order. But you're going to have to buy the $70 Platinum crimper, if you keep using them. Wasted a lot of time with single-edge razor blades, other methods of cutting the wires. Unless the wires are cut exactly where they exit the holes in the Platinum RJ-45 connector, the connector will not push far enough into an RJ-45 socket for the clip (the little tongue) on top of the connector to hold.I'm not buying more. Not enough time difference to be worthwhile.

My favorite connector
Arrived on time... have ordered many times, getting a bit pricy, but the product works well... simplifies installation on the job, no more second guessing if you have the conductors in the correct position... connector makes it easy to have all the insulated outer covering inside the connector for a secure connections and clean look... use the boots and you have better than factory patch cords at lengths you need.... would buy again... I started using these when they first came out.....now they are getting a bit pricy... but still my first choice...

Headache Eliminator
You will see near identical reviews for these connectors and their RJ12 cousins.Getting clean connections with the jacket snugly up to the crimp point is often a challenge and sometimes requires and extra trimming step to get the length of the conductors "just right". Never again. In addition, with RJ45 (Cat 5, et cetera) getting each conductor in place (and making certain it's really there) is a major challenge. Once more, never again! While these connectors (and their tool) are a little more expensive than the generic variety, they are worth every penny. No blown crimps. No time wasted. No muttered curses as you clip the end of the cable and start over.If you need reliable connections and less aggravation, grab these.
